Papillomas appeared during pregnancy, removal of papillomas

If papillomas appeared during pregnancy, it means that HPV – the human papillomavirus – lived in the body before, but only now manifested itself. This is not surprising, because the immunity of pregnant women decreases naturally. If papillomas are of great concern to a woman, they can be removed, but the need for this should be discussed with a doctor.

Papillomas during pregnancy

Papillomas are benign growths. They range in size from 2 mm to 1 cm and range in color from flesh to dark brown.

Papillomas during pregnancy can be removed.

Most often they appear in the armpits, décolleté, groin, and neck. By themselves, papillomas are not painful, but if they constantly come into close contact with clothing, unpleasant sensations may occur.

Often, HPV in the female body does not manifest itself in any way before pregnancy. The appearance of papillomas during this period, as well as the growth of already existing formations, is associated not only with decreased immunity, but also with fluctuations in the hormonal background.

Papillomas do not have any effect on the course of pregnancy and fetal health

But some types of the virus are oncogenic, that is, they are capable of provoking the growth and development of malignant cells. In the presence of this type of HPV after pregnancy, you need to carefully monitor women’s health, regularly undergo colposcopy – a detailed examination of the cervix. It will allow you not to miss the development of atypical cells.

The presence of papillomas is not an obstacle to natural childbirth. Only if they have arisen on the cervix is it worth discussing the issue of caesarean section with your doctor. This is due to the fact that the risk of bleeding increases, and if the virus enters the child’s respiratory system, formations can occur in his larynx.

Removal of papillomas during pregnancy is possible, but this issue should also be discussed with your doctor.

Perhaps you should not rush, after childbirth, the formations will significantly decrease or disappear altogether.

As a treatment, vitamin complexes and antiviral drugs are prescribed. It is necessary to pay attention to the instructions – the medication must be approved for use during pregnancy.

If conservative treatment does not help, the doctor may suggest cryodestruction – freezing with liquid nitrogen, electrocoagulation – impact on papillomas with a weak current discharge. Surgical excision of papillomas is also possible. The procedure can only be carried out with the use of local anesthesia, since the use of general anesthesia during pregnancy is undesirable.
