How to remove gouache, watercolor and oil stains
Gouache and watercolor are water-soluble paints, so you can remove them simply by rinsing off with water. If these stains of paint are on your clothes, first place each stain under a stream of warm water, turning the clothes inside out. When the stain is noticeably pale, soak the garment in hand-wash detergent, which contains a lot of biologically active substances that remove stains. After that, the item can be washed as usual by sending it to the washing machine.
If your young artist, in a fit of inspiration, stained the floor and clothes with oil paints, it will be more difficult to remove them, especially when they are already dry. Oil paint can be easily wiped off a hard surface with turpentine or highly purified gasoline. Fresh stains can also be removed from ceramic tiles or laminate with regular vegetable oil. To remove oil paint contamination from clothing, take: – 4 tsp. water; – 1 tsp. ammonia; – 3 tsp liquid soap.
Stir in alcohol, water and soap, dampen a cotton swab with this compound and place it on the stain. After a while, wipe the inside of the stain with a swab, making circular motions from the center of the stain to its edges.
How to remove felt-tip stains
If you want to remove stains from a felt-tip pen, the method of removing them will depend on which felt-tip pen was used by the young artist: water-based, alcohol-based or oil-based. You can remove the stain left by the water-based felt-tip pen by applying an oxygen stain remover to the garment for 10 minutes. Then the item can be washed as usual. Common dishwashing detergent also works well on such stains. Wet the stain with it and leave it on for a day. Another way is 3% hydrogen peroxide. Wipe the stain with cotton wool soaked in peroxide and then wash the clothes.
