Pain in the course of the hernia of the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc, i.e. in the so-called discopathy, are the result of the displacement of the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc and pressure on the neighboring nerve roots of the lumbosacral plexus, especially the sciatic nerve.

The pains suddenly appear in the form of a “shot” that makes it impossible to straighten and move freely, they radiate along the back surface of the lower limbs towards the foot. This usually occurs after lifting a heavier load, suddenly bending down, jumping, etc.

Home first aid for these cases is that of Lumbalgia. A painkiller may be given.
