Pain in the limbs can have various causes – from injuries and overstrain to inflammatory changes and posture defects. Usually, pain symptoms occur as a result of flat feet, inflammatory-degenerative changes in the sacroiliac joints and various injuries (dislocations, fractures, bruises).

The most common causes of limb pain

Pain in limbs is usually the consequence of:

  1. various injuries, followed by bruises, dislocations and fractures; bruised muscle reacts with severe pain to touch and shows less contractile-diastolic efficiency, which determines mobility; in the area of the injury, as a result of vasodilation or internal strokes, ecchymosis, bruising, wounds and swelling may form,
  2. flat feet, which is characterized by leg pain, especially in the calves, usually after the 30-35 years of age. years of age, when the body weight is increasing and the muscles of the feet weaken,
  3. cervical plexus neuralgia that radiates to the upper limbs,
  4. neuralgia of the lumbar or sacral plexus, which radiates to the buttocks and along the lower limbs, e.g. sciatica, “gunshot”, lumbago,
  5. inflammatory-degenerative changes in sacroiliac and hip joints,
  6. insufficient blood supply to the limbs as a result of vasoconstriction or limited blood flow in the lower limbs (e.g. in Buerger’s disease or lower limb vascular occlusive disease),
  7. overload of the musculoskeletal and joint systems, excessively in relation to the capabilities of a given person (e.g. during hiking trips).

What to do in case of limb pains?

  1. In neuralgia and inflammatory reactions, painkillers, e.g. 1 tablet of painkillers up to 2-1 times a day.
  2. A warm compress can be used for muscle spasms.
  3. In the case of pains at the occurrence of the so-called Cervico-brachial syndrome, usually due to irritation (inflammation) of the brachial plexus or inflammation of the shoulder joint, relief is provided by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, temporary suspension of the affected arm in a sling, and heating and application of anti-inflammatory ointments.
  4. In the course of vasoconstriction and, consequently, muscle pain due to ischemia, a vasodilator should be taken.
