Paella is internationally recognized, and is part of our autochthonous Mediterranean gastronomy

In the Castellón municipality of Benicassim, have been celebrating in their patron saint festivities of San Antoní for 27 years, an exclusive popular contest that bears the name of the Paellas Day.

This festive day has been for 8 years (2007) a Party Provincial Tourist Interest and today January 23 is celebrated in the town as usual on the second Friday of the weeks of festivities of the municipality.

For years, visitors from all over the national geography have come to the Mediterranean municipality, to be able to live, taste and participate in such a unique day that brings together more than 20,000 people.

Its streets will be filled with embers, paelleras, rice and a great variety of ingredients to complete almost the thousand paellas that are carried out by each participating group.

Popular participation is completed with the performance of orchestras and different groups hired by the municipal council for holidays, which are in charge of entertaining with music along the streets and spaces set up for celebrations.

The gastronomic and recreational activity of the municipality is very wide and for years it has brought together a large amount of national and international tourism, as a result of its summer celebrations of meetings and concerts such as the FIB or the Rototom Sunsplash.

Its restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs have offered nightlife to thousands of tourists who repeated year after year, as a result of the hospitality of its people and the good work of its hoteliers.

This year as a novelty, the city council in the figure of the Department of Fiestas, seeks greater recognition and dissemination of the event to ensure that the paella holiday is recognized as a Festival of national interest in the Valencian community,

To this end, they have invited numerous authorities from the Valencian generalitat, the ministry of agriculture, food and environment already a group of food bloggers so that they cover the event and write in their forums the experiences of such a unique day.
