Oxycort aerosol – use and dosage

Oxycort aerosol is a drug used in dermatology for the local treatment of inflammatory skin conditions. It has bacteriostatic, anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative and antiallergic properties. Oxycort aerosol is available by prescription.

Oxycort aerosol indications for use

Oxycort aerosol is used in the local treatment of skin inflammations complicated by bacterial infection in the course of the following diseases: impetigo, folliculitis, allergic skin diseases (urticaria, eczema, scabies), XNUMXst degree burns and frostbite, conditions after insect bites, erysipelas.

Dosage

Spray the affected areas of the skin with the Oxycort spray, holding the container vertically (with the spray head facing up), approx. 15-20 cm, for 1-3 seconds, 2-4 times a day at regular intervals.

Oxycort aerosol and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Oxycort aerosol are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. viral (e.g. chicken pox, herpes simplex) or fungal skin infection,
  3. tuberculous changes,
  4. ordinary and rosacea acne,
  5. acute purulent infections,
  6. if there are precancerous conditions and skin cancers,
  7. use on damaged skin, face skin, genital and anus area,
  8. do not use the preparation in children,
  9. should not be used in pregnant women or during breastfeeding.

Oxycort aerosol – warnings

  1. Oxycort aerosol is for external, topical application to the skin only.
  2. Do not inhale the preparation.
  3. Do not use near the eyes or on the skin of the face.
  4. Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better after one week of taking Oxycort.
  5. Do not use the preparation on large areas of the skin and for a long period of time to reduce the absorption of hydrocortisone.
  6. Do not use Oxycort aerosol under an occlusive dressing or bandage.
  7. Prolonged application to the skin may cause skin atrophy and dilation of surface blood vessels.
  8. During the treatment with the preparation, avoid UV radiation (also a solarium), because there is a risk of skin diseases related to the effect of light on the skin.
  9. There is no information on the effect of the preparation on the ability to drive and use machines.

Oxycort aerosol – interactions

Concomitant topical application of other drugs in the same area is not recommended.

Oxycort aerosol – side effects

The use of Oxycort aerosol may cause: burning, irritation, hirsutism, skin discoloration, secondary infections, multiplication of resistant bacteria or yeasts, redness, itching, excessive dryness, skin atrophy, skin inflammation around the mouth, skin maceration, acne-like lesions, stretch marks, heat rash, rash, folliculitis , allergic reactions, photosensitivity reactions.
