Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% is used in acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis and paranasal sinusitis. The preparation can also be used in vasomotor rhinitis, inflammation of the Eustachian tube and middle ear. The drug is intended for intranasal use only. The preparation may be in the form of nasal drops or an over-the-counter nasal gel.

Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% – indications and dosage
Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% is a product recommended:
- in acute rhinitis,
- allergic rhinitis,
- during inflammation of the paranasal sinuses,
- in the treatment of vasomotor rhinitis,
- in inflammation of the Eustachian tube or middle ear.
Dosage of Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05%
Acute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.
- Adults and children after the age of 12 1 drop of 0,05% solution or gel in each nostril 2-3 times / day.
- Children 1st-3rd years of age 1 drop of 0,025% solution 2-3 times / day.
- Children 3-6. years of age – 1 drop of solution or gel 0,025% 2-3 × / d.
- Children 6-12. years of age 1 drop of 0,05% solution or gel 2 × / d.
Vasomotor rhinitis, inflammation of the Eustachian tube or middle ear.
- Adults and children after 12 years of age 1 drop of 0,05% solution in each nostril 2-3 times / day.
- Children 1st-6rd years of age 1 drop of 0,025% solution 2-3 times / day.
- Children 6-12. years of age 1 drop of 0,05% solution 2 × / d.
Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% and contraindications
Contraindication to the use of Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% are:
- hypersensitivity to oxymetazoline, sympathomimetics or any of the ingredients of the preparation,
- angle-closure glaucoma,
- atrophic rhinitis,
- use for more than 3-5 days.
Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% – warnings
- The drug is intended for nasal use only.
- If the symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3-5 days, see a doctor.
- The medicine pack is intended for use by one person.
- Particular care should be taken during use and consultation with a doctor in the event of: treatment with MAO inhibitors or other drugs that increase blood pressure; increased intraocular pressure, especially in angle-closure glaucoma; cardiovascular diseases (e.g., ischemic heart disease, hypertension); diabetes; overactive thyroid gland; pheochromocytoma of the adrenal gland.
- Irritation of the nasal mucosa may occur due to the presence of benzalkonium chloride in the drug.
- Too long-term use of Oxalin may weaken its effect and cause inflammation of the nasal mucosa and its irreversible damage.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking the drug.
- In the case of too long-term use of the drug in high doses, side effects from the circulatory system and the central nervous system may appear. It may also affect the ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle. If this happens, you should not drive or operate a motor vehicle.
Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% with other drugs
- Do not use Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% with MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants due to the risk of a significant increase in blood pressure.
Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% – side effects
The use of Oxalin 0,025%, -0,05% may cause the following side effects:
- congestion,
- burning sensation of the mucous membranes of the nose and throat,
- dry nasal mucosa
- sneezing.
- Rare systemic effects: increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, palpitations, headache, nausea, insomnia, tremors, weakness, fatigue. The use of the drug for a longer period than recommended or the use of high doses may lead to secondary drug-induced rhinitis manifested by redness, swelling and runny nose. Such an effect may occur after 5 days of using the drug and, in the case of its continued use, lead to irreversible damage to the nasal mucosa.
