Owners’ actions that dogs really don’t like
Scientists have proven that pets tolerate some of our actions just because they love us.
1. Constantly hug and squeeze
According to research, 81,6% of dogs tested showed signs of stress and anxiety when hugged. Only 7,6% felt pleasure from it, and 10,8% of dogs didn’t care. The most common signs of stress are pinched ears, sad eyes (whites can be seen), or, conversely, closed eyes and turned head so as not to meet the gaze of the hugger. The next time you decide to hug your dog, first evaluate his reaction.
Usually dogs perceive as a threat all actions directed towards them from above. If you notice that your pet moves to the side, turns its head and tries to avoid touching, then it’s time to stop. In this way, the dog tries to express its dissatisfaction with your behavior. And it may even start to defend itself and bite you.
3. To rush home from a walk
During a walk, the dog not only sends natural needs, but also learns the world, and also communicates. The best thing for her is the opportunity to play and exercise, breathing fresh air next to her beloved master. So let your pet enjoy the walk instead of running home after being outside for 5 minutes, advises
All beings, even humans, need rules to avoid chaos. For cats, these rules are more or less obvious: they are independent creatures, walking on their own. However, we cannot say the same about dogs. Dogs must be trained in rules that must not be broken. Otherwise, your dog will turn into a spoiled lazy pet that can eat your favorite shoes. The dog must know its name and commands such as “sit!”, “To the leg!”, “Wait!”, “Stand!” etc. During training, the owner builds a healthy relationship with the dog: he teaches him how to behave in society and interact with others, provides him with enough exercise to tone his muscles and the pet gets emotional release.
5. Screaming as punishment
Of course, sometimes it’s impossible to stay calm if your dog pees on the living room carpet for the tenth time. But you won’t get anything from her by shouting. If you use a loud voice, the pet will confuse training with punishment. Think about the dog getting bored or missing a few classes. Instead of punishing, try talking to her in a low, but decisive way.
6. Dress up when it’s not cold outside
In cold weather, dress your pet warmly enough to keep it from catching a cold. But don’t buy him clothes just because they fit your bag or coat and look cute. Dogs can regulate the temperature of the warmth thanks to their coat. If you do decide to dress up your dog, make sure that it does not get tangled in clothes and does not overheat.
7. Scare with loud sounds
Fear is a big problem for all dogs. Some of them are even born with a genetic predisposition to this feeling. Failure to accustom them to certain sounds can lead to psychological trauma that only a professional can handle. This includes sounds from a toaster or microwave oven, vacuum cleaner, hairdryer, or fireworks. If the pet is scared of some sound, it is better to distract him with a delicacy, and later explain that nothing terrible has happened.
8. Make you play with your friends if you don’t like them
As good and kind as your friends are, your dog may not like them. In this case, do not force her to endure their caresses. She will try to protect herself and you from a possible threat, even if it does not exist. Therefore, pay attention to the gestures and movements of your pet, especially if he tries to hide behind you, growls or just turns away so that you do not touch him.
9. Teasing for your own pleasure
Your dog may at first perceive this as a game, but eventually realizes that something is wrong. For example, if you beckon her to supposedly treat her with something, but you do not give anything. Or pull her tail. Doing this is a surefire way to lose your pet’s trust and authority.
10. Keep in places with strong odors
A dog can distinguish and memorize up to a million odors, even at a great distance. This feature should be appreciated. Some odors can worsen this feeling and even dysfunction of the nervous system. When you’re cleaning your house with bleach or using too many scents, it’s best to keep your pet in another room with a toy or treat.
