Ovulation test – action, application, types. What is it about?

An ovulation test helps determine when you ovulate. It allows you to pinpoint the period when the chances of fertilization are greatest with greater accuracy. These types of products are available in pharmacies.

Ovulation test – action

The ovulation test works by detecting its presence luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine. The increase in its level is recorded about 24-36 hours before ovulation (ovulation).

LH is a hormone that is produced by the anterior pituitary gland. Its concentration changes throughout the menstrual cycle. The action of this hormone allows you to activate the mechanisms that lead to the rupture of the Graaf follicle and the release of the egg. Therefore, the highest concentration of LH is recorded in the period preceding ovulation.

Ovulation test – application

The ovulation test is intended for women who want to get to know their menstrual cycle even better. Regular use of this type of products allows you to estimate the time of ovulation – the time when the egg is released from the follicle. For this reason, an ovulation test can be one of the methods to increase your chance of becoming pregnant.

Ovulation test – types

The ovulation tests available on the market are identical, but they may differ in the way results are presented and how they are used.

  1. Ovulation test strip – it is a strip that should be placed in the urine container.
  2. Ovulation Stream Test – This type of test has a special absorbent tip that should be placed under the urine stream.
  3. Plate ovulation test – in the form of a plate, on which a small amount of urine previously collected in the container is applied.

Ovulation test – directions for use

The credibility of the results depends primarily on the correct procedure – in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions for a specific ovulation test.
