Noticed overflowing water in the dishwasher? Is there an endless set of water, but the drain does not work? What is the problem?
There may be several reasons for such a failure. Over time, parts and assemblies wear out and fail. We will tell you what to check to fix the problem.
How to fix water overflow in dishwasher
What to do if the dishwasher “Electrolux”, “Ariston” pours water? First, find out the reason. Sometimes the self-diagnosis system works and displays a fault code on the display. The water level in the dishwasher is constantly rising, which leads to leakage.
If the Aquastop protection has tripped, start inspecting and checking the machine.
What details need to be checked, how to fix the breakdown?
Water level sensor
Each program consumes a different amount of water. Upon reaching the desired level, the sensor is triggered and sends a signal to the main module, which stops the intake. Thus, the pressure switch controls the water level in the bunker.
If the pressure switch fails or gives incorrect readings, the board does not receive the necessary information. For example, the level switch sends a signal that the water level in the chamber is low. Therefore, the system will endlessly gain it.
Overflow can be dangerous by damaging the electronic components of the dishwasher. As soon as you notice a problem, immediately unplug the equipment from the network.
You can check the overflow sensor yourself. In Bosch, Electrolux models, it is located below, near the circulation pump. In other brands – Zanussi, Indesit, Veko – it may be located in a different place, this can be found in the instructions.
Here is an example of checking the sensor on Bosch models:
- Disconnect the machine from the network and communications.
- Remove all baskets from the chamber.
- Turn the equipment over to the back wall.
- Remove the bottom tray by unscrewing the fixing screws.
- Near the pump assembly you will see a plastic box. There are hoses leading to it.
- The electronic part of the pressure switch is checked with a multimeter.
- You can find out if the mechanical part is working by blowing into the tube of the device. Do you hear clicks? So the item is fine. If not, replace.
intake valve
The valve serves to supply water to the chamber. When the pressure switch sends a signal to the module that the level in the tank has reached the norm, the board sends a pulse to the valve, and its membrane closes. The cause of the breakdown is a malfunction with the mechanical part or with the electronics.
There is an element in the lower part of the PMM case. Turn off the power to the machine and attach the multimeter probes to its contacts. If the resistance is not correct, replace the valve. To diagnose the mechanical part, the operating voltage is applied and it is checked whether the membrane opens or not.
The replacement is simple:
- disconnect wiring;
- unscrew the fastening bolt;
- set a new element;
- make sure that the markings exactly match your model.
Wrong installation
Incorrect hose connections can also lead to overflow. Read the instruction manual carefully. How to connect the dishwasher, read the article.
Experts ask you not to forget the rules for using equipment:
- Do not connect the dishwasher through tees and carriers.
- Do not overload baskets with dishes.
- Use only special detergents, do not forget about salt and rinse aid.
- Clean the filters after the end of the cycle. Leave the door open until the chamber is dry, wipe the seal.
- Turn off the equipment from the network during a long absence.
