Overeating: how to help yourself and what you should never do
 

With overeating, for sure, everyone has encountered. Delicious food, alcohol, pleasant company or, conversely, stress – there can be many reasons to eat more than the norm. We will now tell you how to help your body cope with this trouble. 

1. Brew herbal, green or regular black tea and drink – but not more than 150 ml, so as not to stretch the stomach even more. Sugar and honey are not worth adding, but a spoonful of lemon juice, a lemon leaf or a piece of ginger root will come in handy: they will speed up digestion.

2. Instead of tea, you can prepare a drink to stimulate digestion. Dissolve 1 tablespoon in a glass of drinking water. natural apple cider vinegar. You can add 0,5 tbsp. natural honey. This drink stimulates the production of gastric juice, relieves stomach and intestinal cramps.

3. With pain in the stomach, you can take pills such as pancreatin, mezim, festal. Enzymes facilitate digestion, accelerating the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates, proteins. An important nuance: you cannot constantly drink such pills. In this case, the body will stop synthesizing enzymes on its own, and digestive problems will become permanent.

 

4. Try chewing gum. Enzymes from saliva that is released during the chewing process will help speed up the breakdown of food.

5. Go for a walk: fresh air and movement will speed up your metabolism. Breathe deeply as you walk, and bend to the sides from time to time to help the food move up the esophagus. Walk steadily, you cannot bend over sharply, jump, so as not to harm an overflowing stomach and cause volvulus.

What can not be done

  • To drink a lot of water. The stomach will stretch even more from water, which means there is a great risk of injury to the delicate mucous membranes of the stomach. 
  • Drink alcohol. It can provoke a secondary gluttony, that is, it will aggravate the problem.
  • Go to bed without solving the problem. Falling asleep with a full stomach is harmful to the body. Fermentation, decay, intoxication are guaranteed. 

After the first symptoms of overeating are removed, you need to clench your hand into a fist and stroke your stomach clockwise around the navel. Describe a sufficiently large circle, including the lower abdomen and space 7-8 centimeters above the navel. In no case should you press hard. Stroking will improve digestion, stimulate peristalsis, really helping the movement of the food bolus through the intestines.

Eating after overeating

When your hunger wakes up again, it means that the food has been digested. For the first meal after such stress for the body as overeating, neither fatty, nor salty, nor smoked, nor generally heavy food is acceptable. Ideal in this case is porridge rich in fiber.

Buckwheat, oatmeal – that’s what will help restore the digestive tract. It is very good to add bran to the porridge to cleanse the intestines faster. Serving size cannot exceed 250-300 grams.
