The number of people infected with the coronavirus is growing in Mazovia. On July 23, the Ministry of Health informed about 104 new cases in the region. For comparison: according to the data of the Ministry, on July 22, 46 people were infected. Where did this sudden jump come from?
Rapid increase in infections in Mazovia – 104 new cases
The number of COVID-19 cases is growing. On July 23, the Ministry of Health confirmed 418 new cases of infection. On Monday there were 279, on Tuesday 399, Wednesday brought an increase of 380. In Mazowieckie voivodship the situation was as follows. While on July 23, the number of new cases was 104, the day before there were 46, on Wednesday, July 21 – 59, on Tuesday – 54. What is happening in Mazovia?
According to the press spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Andrusiewicz, new COVID-19 infections come from outbreaks, including small and diffuse ones located in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.

One of them is a wedding that took place in the district of Węgrów. – A large number of infections concern an outbreak associated with a wedding in the district of Węgrów. Investigations are being carried out by PSEZ Warszawa, PSEZ Mińsk and PSEZ Siedlce – said TVN24, spokeswoman for the Mazowieckie State Provincial Sanitary Inspector, Joanna Narożniak.
The latter issued a message on July 23, in which he informs that an outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 infection associated with a wedding in the district of Węgrów occurred in the district of Siedlce. «Participants of the wedding – 36 people as well as cohabitants or co-owners (53 people in total) were quarantined and controlled. As a result of the tests, 18 people tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. At present, 4 people have been referred to the hospital, the remaining people are doing well »- stated.
As emphasized by Joanna Narożniak, the investigation of infections related to the wedding is also carried out by sanitary centers in other provinces, because the party was attended by guests from outside Mazovia.
Another bonfire appeared after the baptisms in Garwolin. Five new infections were detected there on Thursday. The number of confirmed infections in Gostynin is also growing. The local district sanitary inspector informed about two outbreaks of COVID-19 in: a social welfare home, and the Psychogeriatry and Psychiatric Ward of the VI Provincial Independent Complex of Public Healthcare Institutions in Gostynin.
These are not all coronavirus outbreaks. It is also indicated, inter alia, for workplaces in Płock, Sierpc and Radom poviats.
The epidemiological situation in Poland
On Thursday, July 23, the Ministry of Health reported another 418 cases of coronavirus infection.
They come from the following voivodeships: Śląskie (110), Mazowieckie (104), Małopolskie (75), Łódzkie (33), Opolskie (21), Podkarpackie (20), Wielkopolskie (15), Zachodniopomorskie (10), Lubuskie (9), Dolnośląskie (7), Pomorskie (4), Świętokrzyskie (4), Warmińsko-Mazurskie (2), Podlasie (2), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (1) and Lublin (1). Nine sick people died.
