In areas known to be at risk for leptospirosis, the difficulty is to confuse this disease with other infections producing the same type of symptoms such as dengue or chikungunya. In temperate zones, such as in mainland France, the difficulty is linked to the rarity of the disease, which can, at the beginning, make you think of the flu.
