Our doctor’s opinion about hepatitis B
Although mostly benign, infection with the hepatitis B virus is still sometimes fatal or sometimes requires heavy and complex treatment. Fortunately, cases of acute or chronic hepatitis B have been much less frequent in industrialized countries since vaccination. In Canada, between 1990 and 2008, the rate of HBV infection among adolescents increased from 6 in 100,000 to 0,6 in 100,000. I myself have been vaccinated and have no fear in recommending the vaccine. Dr Dominic Larose, MD CMFC(MU) FACEP |
