Our desires of pregnant women

Where do pregnancy cravings come from?

Sweets, spreads starting with N…, very fatty hamburgers or toast with processed cheese win the list of small cravings! From there to suppose that we “take advantage” of our new statute to grant ourselves everything that the regimes usually prohibit… there is only one step! And our Darling does not hesitate sometimes to tell us, convinced that all these irrepressible “desires” that he is asked to satisfy immediately presto are only passing fads. So, true or false ? In any case, new body, new needs …

While some of the cravings of pregnant women seem fanciful, most are perfectly normal. What could be more understandable than having a compulsive craving for green vegetables, tasty fruits, dairy products … when the body is constantly on the verge of iron or calcium deficiency. Usually our body knows its needs and sends us messages : “I need protein, carbohydrates” (for the most reasonable) or “I need foods that fit the body” (for the most greedy!). Of course, this has not been “verified” by medicine, but there is a good chance that a furious desire for black pudding translates a real need for iron. And if certain dishes repel us, it is also because our physiological needs change. So the message is: listen to your body and indulge yourself in these little food pleasures!

Go happily from “all pizza” to “all Chinese” without asking any questions… as long as you do not give in to your desires until mealtimes. A diet that is poorly distributed throughout the day and punctuated by numerous sweet snacks can indeed lead to reactive hypoglycaemia and trigger, by ricochet, a compulsive need to snack on cupcakes, chocolate bars and other foods high in sugar. Be careful, this vicious circle risks causing the needle of the balance to climb into the red zone!

These cravings are a way of pushing back the deadline

Okay, the hormonal changes of pregnancy causing a change in the perception of tastes and smells, you discover new food attractions. Corn all these “impulses” which push you to spread half a baguette with a full pot of cheese or to take a third part of chocolate fondant also testify to a desire to “stay little girl” for a few more days. As we prepare to become a mother for life, we seek to enjoy “one last time” the possibility of being pampered like … a baby or indulging in all the pleasures like the fairytale princess. that we all dreamed of being. These imperative desires, extraordinary or not, are a way of pushing back the deadline, of granting a reprieve to the little girl in us, and of gently mourning our childhood.

As long as these cravings do not turn into “bulimia”, why give up listening to yourself and indulging yourself?
