Nine out of ten parents believe that their child is smarter, more sensitive, smarter and more caring than other children*. Moreover, they rate their child “above average” on several indicators at once, they speak not only about an extraordinary mind or his excellent sense of humor, but use “the most” in relation to several character traits at once.

Moreover, they rate their child “above average” on several indicators at once, they speak not only about an extraordinary mind or his excellent sense of humor, but use “the most” in relation to several character traits at once. In addition, the higher the self-esteem of the parents themselves, the more inflated their view of the abilities of their son or daughter. According to study leader clinical psychologist Andrew Wenger, the tendency to see children in such an “unrealistically positive way” may be due to social pressure from society. A culture that values things like instant gratification, individualism, and competence encourages such unrealistic views. But here’s the nice thing: no matter what, kids can be sure that there is someone in the world for whom they are the best!
