“Our 10 enchanted minutes” to… Play with sounds

Playing with sounds

It’s like “shhh – shhh – shhh”

Here it is “cling – cling cling”

And there “frrr – frrr – frrr”

Listen up and guess what it is …

The aim of the game ?

Work on concentration and hearing, because memory is built using the five senses. Knowing how to recognize sounds is interesting in several areas. Here, we are going to shake small boxes and we try to guess what they contain … just with our hearing!

The unfolding?

Provide yourself with small opaque boxes (or hidden by paper slipped into them to make the content invisible – but this attenuates the sounds a little).

Take 4 to start. You can give the names of the different contents WITHOUT revealing where they are – obviously – to help the children. Then they wave the boxes around and make guesses. Once they’re set, we uncover the content and see if they’ve had keen hearing.

Example:

Shells / Paper clips / Semolina / Cereals

After that ?

We make the exercise more difficult by not revealing the contents of the boxes. Children with good hearing should be able to guess on their own. Challenge!

But still… We are increasing the number of boxes.
