“Our 10 enchanted minutes” to … Learn to count

Learn to count

The aim of the game ?

Create a notion of “unit” to evaluate quantities in a fairly intuitive way in children.

The unfolding?

With toothpicks and plasticine.

We take a toothpick and say it’s “ONE”. Then, we take two, we show it to the child, we pronounce “TWO” by designating them, and the child assembles them end to end using plasticine.

Let’s take 3 and put them together in the same way.

Do the same for up to 10 toothpicks, and see with the child the length of the ten.

And after that ?

You can remove the plasticine and simply put the toothpicks side by side to see the quantities; we can put them end to end without plasticine and above all… we count them!
