Enrich your vocabulary
The aim of the game ?
To arouse astonishment, a questioning, an eyebrow which rises in the child … A shining eye and a: “Mum, Dad, what is THAT?”. It’s great for starting a new conversation, and bringing in a new lexical field, a list of words that we are not used to using.
This with the aim of building up a rich “vocabulary” and “knowledge” capital for the child, a treasure for life.
The unfolding?
Find a souvenir buried in your cupboards that are full of them (you don’t have to buy something new). Something familiar to you, but not to your child.
An inkwell used by grandpa… a classification card of the fish of the Indian Ocean… a photo of your childhood with a record player… a pottery of your little hand made in kindergarten…
Ideas abound.
The object sits in the center of the breakfast table, and your child’s legendary curiosity does the rest. He asks questions, wants to know the story that this object has to tell: why did you buy it? What was it used for? How did you make it? At what age ?
You haven’t finished talking about it.
After that ?
He is encouraged to build a collection of small treasures that he will keep precious.
