Otinum are ear drops that relieve pain and inflammation. This preparation is used in the case of inflammation of the middle ear, internal auditory canal and eardrum.
Otinum – action
Otinum is a drug recommended for people who experience ear inflammation, such as acute catarrhal otitis media, eardrum or external auditory canal. It contains glycerol, which makes the earwax softer, making it much easier to remove. It is a preparation containing in addition choline salicylatewhich is its active ingredient. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that stops substances that activate pain receptors. Therefore, the preparation has an analgesic and antipyretic effect. The preparation fights inflammation without exerting a systemic effect.
Otinum – application
Otinum are ear drops that can be purchased without a prescription. The drug is intended for topical use, as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist. If the doctor prescribes Otinum on prescription, it is worth informing him about all the drugs that have been taken by us recently. Additionally, before using the preparation, read the patient information leaflet, which contains all the necessary information. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use this preparation. Taking any medications during pregnancy should be consulted with a doctor who may prescribe the drug and allow its use only if it is deemed necessary and does not endanger the health and life of the child.
Otinum – dosage
The drug is intended for short-term and external use (topically to the ear). The dose and frequency of intake is determined by the doctor who prescribes the preparation.
For treatment to be effective, in acute inflammation of the external auditory canal, eardrum or middle ear, the drug should be used for up to three days, using 3 to 4 drops (every 12 hours). When it comes to softening the hard earwax remaining in the ear, the preparation can be used for four days by instilling 3 to 4 drops (every 12 hours). Do not exceed the recommended doses, as this will not increase the effectiveness of the drug and may endanger your health. The described dosage is indicative only and if symptoms occur, please consult your doctor.
The drug is instilled into the ear canal in the supine position, with the affected ear facing up. It is advisable to stay in this position for a few minutes afterwards. Before using the preparation, check the expiry date on the label (package). Drugs that are past their expiry date cannot be used. The drops should be left in such a place that access to them is difficult for children.
Otinum – additional information
Chlorobutanol contained in the preparation may cause allergic reactions. In addition, symptoms such as reddening of the skin and itching may occur. People with perforation of the eardrum should be especially careful. The drug does not cause danger to people driving vehicles and operating machines and other devices. In the event of relapse, contact your doctor and consider continuing to use the preparation.
