Osteogenone is a drug used to treat osteoporosis resulting from a variety of factors. It is taken by elderly people, postmenopausal women and patients who previously took steroids; It is also used to regulate the calcium-phosphate balance in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Sometimes it is also an auxiliary drug, supporting the healing of a broken bone.
Lek Osteogenon it is issued at the pharmacy only upon presentation of a valid one prescriptions. The active substance of this preparation is the complex of ossein and hydroxyapatite. The other ingredients are in the core potato starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and colloidal anhydrous silica; the shell contains hypromellose, talc, macrogol 6000, yellow iron oxide (E 172) and titanium dioxide (E 171). One tablet contains 830 mg of this compound, which makes up about 444 mg of hydroxyapatite, 178 mg of calcium and 82 mg of phosphorus. The package contains 40 coated, yellow tablets and costs about PLN 34.
Dosage of the drug Osteogenon
Dose each drug should be determined by a physician and tailored to the individual needs of the patient. Interactions with other drugs

- thiazide diuretics; in combination with Osteogenone, they can change blood calcium levels,
- digitalis glycosides; in combination with Osteogenon, they can increase the occurrence of side effects,
- Osteogenone can also make the thyroid hormones less effective.
