Risperidone – the active substance – acts on receptors in the brain, such as serotonin (5-HT2), dopamine (D2), adrenergic (a1 and weaker to a2) and histamine (H1) receptors. It has the strongest influence on dopamine D2 receptors. The drug inhibits their activity, which reduces the symptoms of schizophrenia.

- mania that is moderately or severely severe
- with dementia of the Alzheimer’s type or persistent aggression, but only when it occurs for a short time (up to six weeks), and other treatments are not effective and there is a possibility that the patient may pose a risk to himself or others,
- mental retardation or stunted development that exhibits aggressive and destructive behavior. It applies to children from 5 years of age and adolescents with diagnosed mental retardation according to DSM-IV criteria.
The drug is used as an adjunct to therapeutic treatment. Consultation with a neurologist, psychiatrist or other specialist in mental disorders is recommended.

Orizon – contraindications
Allergy or hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of its ingredients is a contraindication to the use of the drug. Additionally, consult a specialist doctor each time you start therapy with Orizon.
Elderly patients suffering from cerebral dementia should not take the drug. There is a risk of a stroke.
