“Orgasm” is a creamy cocktail of moderate strength (11-14%) with a mild taste and light citrus tones. Due to its high sweetness, it is considered more of a feminine drink.
Historical reference. The Orgasm cocktail originated in Florida in the 70s at the Flying Elk bar. The author of the recipe is unknown. According to legend, one evening a charming lady dropped in and asked for a cocktail that was not on the menu, because she was tired of the monotony of the local cocktail menu. The bartender was not taken aback and offered his recipe. After the first sip, the girl moaned loudly with pleasure, and the bartender immediately came up with a name for his creation.
Initially, the cocktail was called “Screaming”, which means “scream” or “loud groan” in Russian. A more defiant name began to be used closer to the 90s, when the taboo on the word “orgasm” in public places weakened. Over time, many variations of the drink have appeared.
Classic Orgasm cocktail recipe: 2 parts Baileys, 1 part Amaretto, 1 part Kalua coffee liqueur and 1 part vodka. Previously, in the codification of the International Bartending Association (IBA), a different composition was placed: one part of Beilis, Cointreau and Grande Marnier. If you add vodka to these ingredients, you get a Screaming Orgasm cocktail. In America, a variety of “BACK” is popular: Baileys, Amaretto, Cream (a flat part of cream and milk), Kahlua. None of the versions are currently on the IBA list. The following is the option that is most popular in Russia and is simply prepared at home.
Composition and proportions:
- Baileys – 30 ml;
- Cointreau – 30 ml;
- cream (about 11% fat) – 30 ml.
Orgasm cocktail recipe
1. Chill the serving glass.
2. Mix in a shaker with ice until Baileys foam, Cointreau and cream appear.
3. Pour the resulting mixture through a strainer (bar strainer) into a glass without ice. By adding cream, the drink will turn out to be quite thick.
4. For spice, you can decorate the cocktail with a cherry. Drink through a straw.
