Oreanda (Oreanda) – Crimean champagne, which occupies one of the first places in sales in Ukraine. Sparkling wine is produced from its own grapes by a full-cycle enterprise, which is located in the city of Feodosia in the east of the peninsula. The brand belongs to the international holding Global Spirits.
Historical information
The history of Feodosia champagne goes back to the beginning of the 1824th century. In XNUMX, Emperor Alexander I granted the French Baron Alexander Bode a piece of land in the vicinity of Feodosia. The nobleman ordered vines from France and planted vineyards on the donated lands. Bode became the director of the winemaking school in Sudak and even published his own textbook on viticulture in the southern provinces of Russia.
In 1862, a small winery was founded in Feodosia. Riesling and Bordeaux, made at the factory, received approval even at court. At the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the company was reoriented to the production of strong alcohol and worked until the Second World War.
After the end of hostilities, the partially destroyed buildings were restored, and in Soviet times the company produced a wide range of wines and fruit juices. In 1985, the Crimean wine industry was in decline due to the anti-alcohol campaign, so the volume of production was significantly reduced.
A new round of development began in 2003, when an enterprise was organized on the basis of the Feodosia winery together with the French company l Empire Du Vin. The new company was named “Crimean Wine House”.
In subsequent years, the plant has become one of the most well-equipped on the peninsula. The production uses more than 40 varieties of grapes from its own farm, the area of which reaches 4,5 thousand hectares. The company’s products regularly receive awards at international competitions. Currently, the “Crimean Wine House” is part of the international holding Global Spirits.
Production features
Champagne Oreanda is made from the best grape varieties traditionally used for the production of sparkling wines: Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Aligote. The company uses the acratophoric method, in which the juice is aged in large stainless steel tanks for several weeks. This method significantly reduces the fermentation time, but at the same time allows you to get high quality sparkling wine. Under the Oreanda brand, the company produces 13 types of champagne and wine drinks of various strengths.
Awards
Oreanda brand wines have won a total of 45 medals and received 7 diplomas at national and international exhibitions. At the Golden Griffin competition, which took place in Yalta in 2010, Oreanda Brut champagne was awarded the Best Sparkling Wine of the Year award.
