Do I need to cut the peduncles of the orchid
First of all, you need to take a closer look at the plant itself. If, after flowering, the buds and arrow begin to fade, then the plant must be cut off. But this can be done not earlier than the escape completely dries up. Otherwise, the plant will spend a lot of time recovering, and new buds will appear much later. You need to cut the peduncle with sharp disinfected scissors so that a stump with a length of 2,5-4 cm remains.

It is advisable to treat the cut sites with wax. Then, when watering, the water will not cause rotting of the stem.
If the peduncle continues to grow, then you do not need to cut it off. In this case, new buds or babies are formed on the shoot after some time. If the culture has given flowers, then they need to be cut at a height of 1,5 cm from the inflorescences. If the orchid has formed children, then you need to wait until they are strong enough and give roots. And only after that, carefully cut off and plant in separate containers.

During this period, the culture needs increased attention. It is advisable to transplant the plant into new soil after flowering. Choose the same soil as the previous one. Then the flower adapts faster and begins to prepare for the formation of new buds. As for the pot, do not choose a container that is too spacious. After transplanting, do not moisten the soil for a couple of days. Then the orchid will have time to adapt to new conditions.
In the future, the plant needs regular and abundant watering. When moisturizing, make sure that no water gets into the leaf axils. Otherwise, this place can rot. After flowering, the orchid needs less fertilizer. The culture should be fed no more than once a month. For these purposes, it is better to use complex mineral preparations containing magnesium sulfate.
