Orange essential oil: application, properties. Video
The spectrum of application of orange essential oil is very wide: it is actively used in the cosmetic industry, in cooking, in the complex treatment of certain diseases. You can also use orange oil at home – for example, when making your own cosmetics, to scent the air in rooms.
Orange essential oil: methods of obtaining and useful properties
Orange oil is obtained by cold pressing or hydrodistillation from the peel of the fruit of the orange tree. Sweet orange oil is more common; now you can buy it in almost any pharmacy at an affordable price.
The oil obtained from the peel of bitter orange (orange) has a more subtle and tart aroma, is used as often as sweet orange oil, but is more often used in the manufacture of medicines and alcoholic beverages.
Orange oil can be used alone or together with other essential oils, it combines well with oils of rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and lavender, complementing and enhancing their healing properties.
Orange essential oil has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, tonic properties, increases appetite, and is used to treat gum disease. In cosmetology, its ability to smooth the skin, stimulate its regeneration and increase its elasticity is appreciated. The essential oil is especially helpful in the fight against cellulite.
The aroma of orange oil improves mood, relieves anxiety, stress.
For cosmetic purposes, orange essential oil is used in face and body creams, added to hair masks, mixed with base oil for aroma massage, and mixed with honey, milk or sea salt – for aromatic baths.
For the aromatization of the premises, oil is poured into special lamps or dry mixtures of herbs, salt and flower petals are sprayed with it.
In medicine, orange essential oil is used in the form of gargles or applications. It can also be used internally, but this should not be done without consulting a doctor. Usually, in such cases, the essential oil is added in small amounts to tea, juice or water.
For a bath, you will need 4-6 drops of essential oil mixed with 3-4 tablespoons of an emulsifier (honey, milk, whey). To enrich creams and lotions, 5 drops per 15 grams of base are enough, and for massage – 6-10 drops per 10 milliliters of base oil or massage cream.
In its pure form, orange oil is not applied to the skin so as not to cause irritation. It should be remembered that orange essential oil increases the sensitivity of the skin and should be used at least one hour before sun exposure.
The oil should be poured into the aroma lamp depending on the size of the room in which the lamp is supposed to be used. For 15 square meters, 3-5 drops are needed.
For mouthwash, 1 drop of oil is added to 1 glass of warm water. If you need to make an application for the gums, 1 drop of orange essential oil is mixed with XNUMX drops of a base vegetable oil.
For ingestion, no more than 1 drop of oil is added to a glass of tea or juice.
