Making reservations through the network (on line) in a restaurant is becoming a very common activity when planning our leisure or work commitments, this is confirmed by a study carried out by eltenedor.es, the leading website for online restaurant reservations in Spain, France and Switzerland.
During 2013, more than 3.500.000 online restaurant reservations were made, about 300.000 reservations per month on average, which represents an increase of 170% compared to the previous year
These reserves have generated a business volume of 38 million euros to the restaurant sector in Spain, which shows that the Internet is, without a doubt, a tool that allows the development of the restaurant business.
According to the study of eltenedor.es, about 40% of these online reservations were made from mobile devices, which represents a growth of 15% compared to the previous year, another sign that mobile technology is also imposed to make a reservation at a restaurant.
Regarding the type of Spanish favorite restaurants, the trend does not change with respect to previous years, Mediterranean cuisine restaurants with an average price of between 25 and 30 euros are still the preferred ones with 38% of reservations, followed by Japanese who are positioned as a new gastronomic trend and Italians who never go out of style.
Of course, when choosing a restaurant, users increasingly take into account the opinions left by other customers, so much so that 87% of online reservations in 2013 at eltenedor.es were made in restaurants that had a rating higher than 8 .
Regarding the days in which we Spaniards like more to go out to restaurants, on Fridays and Saturdays they win the game, with 22% and 29% of the reservations respectively. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, they follow them closely and are gaining followers, more and more reservations are made these days.
