The state of epidemic threat in Poland is a test for medical telepaths recently introduced by the National Health Fund. Many clinics have closed doors. Institutions switch to telemedicine and admit patients only in exceptional circumstances. How can a doctor be consulted at a distance? We give practical tips.

Telemedicine during the coronavirus epidemic

Primary health care facilities and outpatient specialist care throughout Poland offer medical consultations without leaving home. IT systems allow you to contact both a family doctor and a specialist – the National Health Fund states on its website. Medical telephoto is available from November 5, 2019, when the ordinance of the Minister of Health on guaranteed benefits in the field of primary health care entered into force.

– Thanks to the remote contact of the patient with his doctor, we significantly reduce the possibility of spreading the coronavirus. Teleporada increases the safety of patients and medical staff and at the same time is treated on a par with a visit to a doctor’s office – assures Adam Niedzielski, president of the National Health Fund.

Patient Online Account

Online patients will get medical advice, but also e-leave and e-prescription. The use of remote services is facilitated by the Internet Patient Account (IKP) available at the following address: patient.gov.pl. To log in to IKP, you must have a trusted profile or an ID card with an electronic layer (e-proof). Some banks also offer the option of logging in to IKP.

Teleporting does not exclude the possibility of using a regular doctor’s appointment. After a medical interview conducted over the phone or online, the patient may receive a suggestion to make an appointment at a medical facility upon prior appointment.
