Planting onions “Stuttgarter”

The most favorable environment for the “Stuttgarter” variety is all non-acidic types of soil, and the largest harvest can be obtained when planting in black soil and soil rich in humus. Sour soil must be neutralized with dolomite flour or lime.

Stuttgarter onions will grow well where cabbage, tomatoes or legumes are grown

There are two ways to grow a variety:

  1. Seed planting is done when the ground has warmed up to about + 10 ° C. Onion seeds pre-soaked in a solution of manganese are planted in the prepared soil. The planting depth should be no more than 2 cm, the distance between the rows – up to 10 cm. The planted seeds are covered from above with earth, which is slightly compacted.
  2. Planting sevka – sevok is kept in water with manganese for a day. Planting is carried out to a depth of 2 cm, the distance between the bulbs is 10 cm, and between the rows – at least 20 cm.

In addition to the spring planting method, winter onion cultivation is practiced. For this, the smallest specimens of the set are chosen. Then, in early spring, you can serve tender greens to the table, and in June you will have excellent turnip bulbs. You need to plant sevok a month before the cold weather, be sure to mulch the garden bed or at least cover it with hay.
