Oncology is the study of the causes of neoplastic diseases, pathology and epidemiology. He deals with the prevention and diagnosis of neoplastic diseases and the multi-specialist treatment and care of cancer patients.

An oncologist is a specialist who deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various neoplastic diseases – precancerous conditions, neoplasms and their complications.

Treatment of neoplastic diseases is carried out by specialists such as:

  1. a clinical oncologist who deals with the overall care of people with neoplastic diseases, in addition to surgical interventions.
  2. a radiotherapist who primarily deals with the planning of radiotherapy. In addition, he works with a medical physicist, electroradiology technician, and an electrordiologist.
  3. surgeon – oncologist who deals with the qualification of people suffering from treatments and performing surgical procedures.

The oncologist treats a very large number of neoplastic diseases. Their list is really long. The diseases include:

In each case, the oncologist carefully plans treatment therapy – be it pharmacological, chemotherapeutic, or radiological. In addition, he takes samples from the diseased area and analyzes them and evaluates them. He also performs minor surgical procedures. In addition to these tasks, the oncologist responds to the progress in therapeutic therapy and adjusts the treatment in the event of any abnormalities. This specialist refers the patient to surgical procedures, and also cooperates with psycho-oncologists and is involved in palliative care.
