I remember at the time I was working in reforestation. For months I had to live in nature. There was practically no entertainment there. So, fishing, yes hiking for mushrooms and berries. One day my colleagues and I decided to go for nuts.
Got a lot of them. They began to think what to do with them. One of ours offered to make a tincture.

What ingredients and equipment will be needed
Our friend immediately made a reservation – this tincture is made not entirely on hazelnuts, but on hazelnuts. This, of course, did not stop us. As forestry workers, we knew that the hazelnut is the domesticated version of the hazelnut.

In general, everyone liked the idea. Soon the car was about to leave for the city for groceries, so we quickly sketched out a list of ingredients and equipment:
- Vodka, 1 liter — 600 rubles
- Hazelnut, 50 gr. We had more than enough of it, and if we decided to buy it in a store, we would have to pay an extra 100 rubles.
- Raisins, 15 pcs. – 110 rubles.
- Sugar, up to 100 gr. – 45 rubles.
Note! Sugar can be replaced with flower honey.
Our colleague said that moonshine can be taken instead of vodka. The main thing is that its fortress does not exceed 45%.
The nuts themselves are taken both ripe and slightly unripe. There is no fundamental difference here.
The cooking process
So, in the evening, a car returned from the city. We just finished the work, so at the meeting of the team, which is called a smoke break in the common people, a unanimous decision was made not to postpone the preparation of the tincture for later, but to deal with this matter immediately.
The man who came up with the idea took the lead in the process:
- The nuts were washed in the spring, after which they were laid out on a baking sheet and placed in an oven at a temperature of supposedly about 100 ° C and thoroughly dried. Our colleague said that in the city they are kept in the oven until a slight forest aroma appears in the room. Some of us choked nervously at the same time. We have been in the forest for the third month.
- When the nuts were dried, it was necessary to cool them to room temperature, after which the hazel was crushed. To do this, we put the nuts in a bag and beat it with a hammer for several minutes.
- The next step was to roast the raisins.
- Crushed nuts and raisins, as well as sugar, we put in a glass jar and filled the whole thing with vodka.

After completion of all these manipulations, the tincture was placed in a closed cabinet for 15 days. Our friend forced her to shake it twice a day, except for the last three days.
Important! Do not keep nuts in the oven for too long. If the shell turns black, this will result in a bitter taste in the tincture.
After 15 days, we filtered the liquid through several layers of cheesecloth and added some more sugar. Then the tincture was bottled and left in the cellar for another 3 days.
A colleague said that this is necessary to stabilize the taste.
What will be the result
And now, after almost 3 weeks, we finally got to the tasting. It was decided to hold it in the evening, after the end of work. None of us dared to walk in a state of intoxication through the forest, despite the long work experience.
And now, in my glass, a light yellow liquid with a slight aroma of nuts shimmers in the light of a kerosene lamp. The taste is a little sweet, and of course it gives off hazel.
The strength of the tincture came out somewhere like 35 degrees, however, despite this, it was very easy to drink.
What can be added / replaced in the recipe
After the first bottle was emptied, we started talking. The main topic of discussion was the tincture we drank.
Half an hour later, we pulled out from a colleague all the information that he knew about her. It turned out that the cooking recipe is not limited by any standards. Here, as they say, a wide field for improvisation.
For example, to improve the taste, you can add aloe leaves. You can also experiment with nuts. The comrade said that he made tincture from walnuts, pine nuts and other nuts.
