Omicron went around the world like wildfire. Currently, he is responsible for over 90 percent. all diagnosed coronavirus infections. Among those infected are also those who are fully vaccinated and after the third dose. Their disease is usually mild. What symptoms do they experience most often? Scientists list eight such symptoms and two early warning signs that this is the Omicron.
- The vaccine protects against the serious consequences of COVID-19, but it is known that sometimes Omikron also infects people after a full vaccination course and a booster dose
- The course of infection in vaccinated persons is usually mild
- Experts point to eight key symptoms of Omicron infection in vaccinated people. This includes cough, runny nose, stuffy nose, fatigue, sore throat, headache
- Doctors warn that the mild course of the infection makes it difficult for people to distinguish COVID-19 from the common cold. Two early symptoms may be a clue

Why does Omikron attack the vaccinated?
How effective the current immunity against the coronavirus will be, including vaccine immunity, is one of the most important questions the world has asked itself after the appearance of Omikron in November 2021. Today, three months after the detection of the supernariate, we know that fully vaccinated people also suffer, sometimes also those who have taken a booster dose. Fortunately, the course of the disease is usually mild then.

Why does Omikron also infect the vaccinated? Scientists suggest that some people will not develop a strong enough immune response against Omicron. Initial estimates indicate that it may be about 20 percent. vaccinated. This is due to individual differences in the functioning of the immune system, which is partly dependent on our genes. More on this in the article: Omikron in the vaccinated. Who will attack and who will avoid him? There is an answer.

We must not forget that the most important task of vaccines is to prevent severe disease and thus death. This means that after vaccination it may happen that we get sick, but the vast majority of cases will be mild.

Omicron in the vaccinated. Eight key symptoms
Information on symptoms of Omikron infection in vaccinated persons was provided by a study conducted in Norway. It included people who participated in a corporate event, after which an increase in infections with the superwariant was observed. The ceremony was organized on November 26, 2021, and 117 people enjoyed it. The analyzes covered 111 of them. In the study group, 89 percent. of people were after the full course of vaccination (mRNA preparations), none of them received a booster injection.
Of the 111 people mentioned, 66 were confirmed with COVID-19, and 15 were suspected of having an infection. The study is published in Eurosurveillance, the medical journal dealing with epidemiology, surveillance, prevention and control of infectious diseases.
What symptoms did the vaccinated party participants who became infected with Omicron experienced? The authors of the study list eight key symptoms. They were:
- cough,
- runny / stuffy nose,
- tiredness,
- sore throat,
- Headache,
- muscle pain,
- fever,
- sneezing.
These patients were most often cough (in 83% of patients), runny nose / blocked nose (63%) and fatigue / lethargy (60%). Among the symptoms listed, sneezing and fever were the least frequent (35% and 44% respectively).

How do you know if it’s an Omikron and not a cold? Two early warning signs
However, the milder course of an infection with Omicron poses some risk. People have a harder time distinguishing SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection from the common cold. Tim Spector, professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London and head of the ZOE COVID Symptom Study program (registers reports from millions of UK users with COVID-19, making it possible to track changes in symptoms during the pandemic) believe that about 50 percent. “New colds are now COVID”.
And here is important information: experts suggest that there are two clear signs that we are dealing with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The first sign is fatigue. Experts note that it is not just the usual feeling of fatigue. This accompanying Omikron infection can translate into body pain, causing muscle weakness, headache, blurred vision and loss of appetite have also been reported. The president of the South African Medical Association, Dr. Angelique Coetzee, noted that fatigue was one of the main symptoms of Omicron in South Africa.

Dizziness and fainting are the second early symptom of a super variant infection. It is worth mentioning the case of a 35-year-old patient from Berlin who experienced recurrent syncope. These observations suggest a possible link between syncope and infection with Omicron. The German journal for doctors, Ärztezeitung, even states that doctors see a “clear relationship” between them.
