Ombre dyeing for short, medium dark hair at home, photo, video
Ombre coloring is smooth color transitions from hair roots to ends. This trendy way can be used on any length, and the number of possible color combinations is amazing. In this article, you will learn how to do an ombre for dark hair at home.
Ombre has significant advantages over conventional coloring:
· Visually increases hair volume;
· Less traumatic for them, since the dye is applied only to a part of the length;
· Allows you to make color adjustments less often, since overgrown roots in most color combinations are less noticeable than with classic staining.
This technique is performed on both light and dark hair. However, in order to get a really effective result at home, as in the photo of the ombre of Hollywood stars, you need to seriously prepare and study the technique of applying paint.
Ombre for dark hair at home: preparation
One of the most important steps in preparation is choosing a color. In order for a new shade to harmoniously fit into the image, you need to take into account the following parameters:
· The original shade of the hair;
· Their length;
· Skin tone.
The chosen combination of shades should be combined with the general color type. So if the main hair color has a warm undertone, you should not choose cold shades for the ends. It will be extremely difficult to achieve them, and such a combination will look inharmonious.
The intensity of the brightening composition must also be selected taking into account the original shade. For soft and smooth transitions, for previously unpainted ones, for an ombre on a light brown color, oxygenant 3% is quite suitable. For a contrasting effect or when performing an ombre on dark hair at home, you should choose a 6-9% oxidizer.
Determine your skin tone: for warm peach and gold tones, warm undertones are best, and vice versa.
On long and medium hair with ombre, you can do the most daring experiments, but for short lengths, soft and smooth color transitions are better suited.

Prepare a dressing gown to protect your clothing from paint spills, a non-metallic paint mixing bowl, and plastic clips. Hair before dyeing can not be washed if there are no traces of styling on it.
1. Divide the hair with a parting from ear to ear, secure them with clips in the occipital and temporal zones.
Staining begins in the parietal zone.
2. Separate the first working strand, approximately 2 cm wide, at the growth line and start applying brightening dye to the ends
The more light highlights you want to get, the finer strands you need to select for coloring. In our case, for an ombre for dark hair at home, Pavel makes strands 2-2.5 cm wide.
After the composition is applied to the ends, you need to gently blend it with a brush, evenly distributing the paint to the desired depth. For convenience, the strand can be put on a glove and wielded with a free hand.
3. Separate strand by strand, moving from top to bottom and repeat the application, trying to apply the paint at the same distance from the roots
To make the transition on dark hair smoother, do the parting in a checkerboard pattern.
4. To prevent the composition from getting on the face, put foil under the treated strands and fix it
5. With a short length in the temporal zone, it is enough to process one strand, highlighting it immediately after the side parting
6. Apply paint in the same way
7. Select the strands on the back of the head from top to bottom so that after coloring they overlap one another
Pavel works only on the upper part of the occipital zone. This is what allows you to create on short lengths the natural effect of slightly sun-bleached dark hair.
8. Leave the dye to act for 20-35 minutes, observing the process, then rinse in accordance with the instructions.
The exposure time is selected individually, depending on the original tone and the desired result.
We got the desired color transition. You can leave it as it is, but in our case the stylist planned a smoother transition, so Pavel applies the selected shade of paint to the lightened areas of dark hair.
9. Apply the desired tone to the discolored ends, cure according to the instructions
10. Style the strands with a hair dryer and a brush
