Olga Arefieva: “I constantly discover something in myself”

“What I can’t stand is when in ordinary life they introduce me: “Olga Arefieva, singer.” I even shudder when they slap me like that. Normally, I don’t remember what my last name is. I’m a singer on stage, and the rest of the time I’m just a person. A living being, with normal feelings and reactions, with a desire for sincere communication. I don’t like it when they pester me on the street, asking for autographs. Most often I answer: “Arefyeva? I don’t know who it is.” I really don’t like being classified. There are many different sides to me. I am very strong and at the same time weak. I like some of my weaknesses, but not others. It is difficult to live without skin in our hard world. But I would not want to close down and become a “human armadillo”, because it is important for me to continue to feel subtle things. I try to be honest with myself and therefore I constantly discover something in myself. These discoveries are not always pleasant to me. But it’s true. Settling in new spaces is also not an easy task. But I’m never bored with myself.”
