A squat thick-walled bottle of Old Bridge whiskey, reminiscent of an old damask, immediately inspires confidence. An additional advantage of this whiskey is a fairly affordable price.
Historical reference. Several generations of the Parker family from Edinburgh were engaged in the manufacture and sale of spirits. Chris Parker, who has been in the industry since 1979, is considered one of the UK’s most respected gin connoisseurs.
In 1994, Mr Parker founded London & Scottish International Ltd to produce gin, whiskey, rum and vodka. The entrepreneur decided that the time had come to restore the old technologies and save Scottish distilling from the dominance of chemistry: pesticides used in the cultivation of barley, flavoring and aromatic additives that change the taste of alcohol.
One of the divisions of the company was Organic Spirits, which has been producing organic alcohol since 1999. This spirit has received many prizes at international competitions and even marked with a diploma from the Prince of Wales.
London & Scottish International Ltd spends almost no money on advertising, as Chris Parker believes that quality is the best guarantee of product popularity. But not everyone can afford Highland Harvest Organic whiskey: the drink is made from barley grown without the use of pesticides. This whiskey is supplied to the famous London clubs and fashionable restaurants.
However, the company needed whiskey in the budget segment as well. To reduce the cost of production, they decided to make a new whiskey at a distillery near the village of Dalneyn Bridge. The main local attraction is the arched stone bridge built in the XNUMXth century over the Dalneyn River. In honor of him, the drink was named Old Bridge (“old bridge”).
Along the banks of the Dalneyn are ancient distilleries that use alambicas from the century before last. The water in Dalneyna is very clear: so much so that salmon come here to spawn. To make whiskey, the water is further purified. The drink is made from distillates aged in oak barrels for 3-12 years.
The division of the company that produces Old Bridge is called Bridge of Dulnain Blenders. Whiskey is exported to Russia and the USA.
