О. Okroshka is primarily vegetables. And if we, beginners in gardening, only plant cucumbers, then experienced gardeners manage to harvest the first crop of radishes and radishes. But remember that some of the crops are planted in their original place only after … many years. For example, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, beets, and chard require a three-year “wait”. Peas and beans cannot be planted at all in their original place until 5 years old. So, in the open ground we plant: tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, eggplants, zucchini and white cabbage.
You can also re-sow early ripe vegetables, for example, the same radish and radish, as well as re-plant greens – parsnips, parsley, fennel and leaf chicory.
The main thing is not to forget about the insidiousness of the June nights, fraught with the threat of frost. Seedlings of vegetables like this can be severely damaged. Therefore, it is worth taking a closer look at folk signs and listening to weather forecasts.
TO. In June we plant bushes and trees with a closed root system. Such fruit and berry crops as cherry, plum, sea buckthorn, black currant, gooseberry and raspberry become ready for division of bushes and cuttings of branches for the purpose of reproduction. The time for these events will be prompted by the plants themselves, the best period comes when the intensive growth of the shoots is replaced by its stabilization.
Cherry, sea buckthorn and plum open the decade of cuttings, in the middle of the month they are joined by black currant, and gooseberries complete the month.
Berry bushes are fed with slurry (at the rate of 1 liter of slurry per bucket of water), or infusion of bird droppings (0,5 liters per bucket of water). The recommended consumption rate is 1 bucket of ready-made top dressing for 2-3 shrubs.
Water under fruit trees is launched through “bowls” or through pre-made wells (0,5 m deep) filled with sand.
R. Reproduction of bulbous. The general principle of digging time is not only when the plant has flowered, but more on the condition of the leaves. For example, daffodils after flowering should not be in a hurry to dig up, you need to wait until the leaves fade and dry naturally. The dug bulbs are washed, dipped in potassium permanganate for disinfection, and then, after drying a little, the children are separated. If the bulbs are accidentally damaged, they are sprinkled with grated coal. The bulbs are then dried in the shade. And then they put it in storage.
Bulbs of muscari, snowdrops, blueberries are kept in containers, sprinkling them with peat or moistened sand. Bulbs of crocuses, white flowers, hazel grouse, chionodox, pushkinia and kandyk, on the contrary, are stored in a dry place. As for the bulbs of hyacinths, daffodils and tulips, wait until the leaves begin to dry out. The removed peeled onions are dried at room temperature, and only after that they are sent for storage. If not dried, then dampness, mold and other unpleasant phenomena can occur.
О. On pest control.
As they say, onions from seven ailments. And garlic – from the “unclean” garden power. Whoever is defeated by infusions of garlic: real and false scale insects, aphids, mealybugs, greenhouse whiteflies and even spider mites! And everyone has their own recipe!
From aphids, the following infusion helps well. Grind 200 g of garlic, pour 1 liter of water and leave in a tightly closed glass container in a dark place for 5 days. Dilute 250 g of this infusion in 10 liters of water. Treat plants.
Garlic solution from a mealybug: 25 grams of garlic and a liter of boiling water are taken. After 6 hours of infusion, the solution is ready to fight parasites!
From the greenhouse pest – the harmful whitefly: one head of garlic is taken for 500 ml of water, and then the “medicine” is allowed to brew for 7 days. Spraying is advised using 10 grams of infusion per 2 liters of water.
Spider mite solution: the same proportions as for the whitefly, but leave for 5 days. For spraying, dilute with water 2 to 1.
We prepare a concentrate against the scale insects: rub the garlic and pour water in a 1: 1 ratio, close tightly, leave for 8-10 days in a dark place. Store the infusion “killer scale insects” in the refrigerator. To spray on a liter of water, you need only 3-5 ml of “killer mixture” – this is approximately the volume of a cap from a standard soda bottle.
Sh. Irina Grebennik talks about the benefits and convenience of wide passages between the beds. Together with her husband Vladimir and two daughters, she grows organic delicacies on her land in the village. Yushki, Kagarlytsky district, Kyiv region, in Ukraine. Tips from Irina Grebennik: “Our garden is divided into permanent beds of 50 cm and aisles of 1 m. Wide aisles allow us to easily approach any plant, and the plants provide enough fresh air and microelements in it. Partially, the beds are located from north to south, partly – in terraces (the garden has a slope). This allows the plants to get as much sunlight as possible. We have given up on plowing the land with a reversal of the layer and loosening the beds manually with a special tool – a flat cutter. We do not weed the passages, we mow them before the grass gives spikelets with seeds. And we spread this grass on the beds. (surface coverage of the soil with mulch – any materials that regulate water and air regimes in the upper layers of the soil – to protect and improve its properties – ed. note) retains soil moisture well, you do not need to water the plants in the evening, and then you do not need to loosen the earth around them early in the morning. No need to weed the beds. Also, mulch during rainstorms saves the soil from erosion.
TO. For large plants that you plant in tubs, water carefully, not trunks and stems, but only the ground – this will help avoid high humidity at the base of the plant and prevent fungal diseases. First, probe the ground with your finger a couple of centimeters deep. If it is wet, then watering is not needed. It is best to mulch the soil of any large size – plant ground cover plants, unpretentious flowering plants with a superficial root system, even simple sowing with lawn grass will help to avoid both overdrying of the soil and stagnation of water in tubs. And, again, do not forget that June can bring sharp fluctuations in night and day temperatures, therefore, with such dangers, delicate houseplants must be brought into the house.
A. Marshmallow of the Malvaceae family is not only a beautiful and unpretentious plant, it has a wide range of medicinal effects, known since the XNUMXth century BC. But that’s not all. It turns out that marshmallow is a “delicacy”. Boiled and crushed marshmallow roots increase the nutritional value of cereals, and fresh marshmallow rhizomes, breaded in breadcrumbs, baked in the oven, are a complete dish!
