Oh, those cultured Petersburgers: they even made a library out of refrigerators!

BytTechService » News ” Refrigerators turned into a library in St. Petersburg

Two colorful ZIL refrigerators appeared in Alexander Park on the territory of Tsarskoye Selo. But they were installed not so that visitors to the park could have a snack with its contents or quench their thirst with a chilled drink, but to receive “spiritual” food. The thing is that unusual refrigerators contain books and magazines. Here everyone can find what he likes: children’s literature, military books, fashion magazines, textbooks, etc.

Employees of the museum-reserve said that they started looking for refrigerators for an impromptu “library” a couple of years ago, placing ads in local newspapers. So they got two old ZIL refrigerators. Later, they repainted them in bright colors – pink and lilac, and hung a sign “Library” so that every visitor would know what awaits him behind the closed door.

The museum said that the main purpose of creating an unusual library was the desire to create more comfortable conditions for vacationers. After all, most come to the park to spend time outdoors, often with a book in their hands. Now the book can be found right on the spot.

Bright refrigerator-libraries attract not only lovers of literature, but also curious visitors who are interested in looking inside. The main principle of improvised “libraries” is bookcrossing: take a book to read, leave something in return.
