All dairy products contain lactose (milk sugar), which not everyone can digest safely. Have you eaten ice cream, drank milk and have stomach pains? You are most likely lactose intolerant and therefore should limit or eliminate dairy products from your diet. In this case, semolina or oatmeal, recipes for which contain milk, will bring unpleasant sensations instead of benefits. That is why it is better to replace milk with water.

It should be remembered that foods containing lactose substitutes are not recommended for small children. The main value of milk is its rich content of calcium and vitamin D. To prepare oatmeal rich in calcium and vitamin D, add fruits such as raisins, dried apricots and nuts to the porridge. You can add honey to thick oatmeal. By the way, the recipe for milk oatmeal may contain soy milk, which is lactose free, and it has a beneficial effect on the body.

Before cooking porridge, rinse the oatmeal under running water to make the dish more tender and crumbly.

Add washed flakes to boiling water and simmer until desired consistency. When the water has practically boiled away, add a piece of butter to the porridge and stir until completely dissolved. Then cover the pot with a lid and let it brew for a few minutes. If you are cooking oatmeal not from flakes, but from oatmeal, then the cooking time for porridge should be slightly longer, since the cereal is boiled more slowly.

Oatmeal should be served hot. If desired, you can add sweet or savory ingredients to the finished dish, such as grated cheese, jam, dried fruit or fresh berries. It all depends on your taste preferences.
