The main secret  oxygen diet is the saturation of the body with vegetables, fruit and their products. Ideally, these should be products with the greatest antioxidant potential. So if you like vegetables and fruits, this diet is for you. It is a low calorie diet. It contains about 1400 kcal per day and lasts about a month. The first stage of the diet is 4 days of cleansing. The next stage is the proper diet, which lasts about a month. Due to the fact that it is a diet rich in vegetables and fruits, it is best to use it in the summer. Then we have a better chance for better-quality fruit and vegetables.

ORAC’s antioxidant potential

This is the most important part of an oxygen diet. ORAC Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, i.e. the ability to absorb free radicals and reactive oxygen species in the body. Free radicals are molecules in the body that occur on their own. They have unpaired (one or more) electrons. Their formation in the body is a natural process that occurs in all of us. They can be formed in various metabolic processes, during physical activity, etc. Free radicals are chemically very active and can combine with other molecules to form elements harmful to the body.

The source of free radicals are also factors related to our lifestyle:

  • Smoking
  • Drinking alcohol
  • Taking certain medications
  • Diseases, e.g. infections
  • A diet rich in animal products with small amounts of vegetables and fruits
  • Environment pollution
  • Radiation

As a result of the transformation of free radicals, the so-called reactive oxygen species. They can damage organs in the body and harm us in general.  They can have a destructive effect on: lungs, circulatory system, kidneys, liver, blood, digestive system, eyes and muscles. If free radicals overcome the body’s defenses or are produced too intensively, various diseases can develop, including cancer, atherosclerosis, and stroke.

An oxygen diet encourages the consumption of products with a high ORAC antioxidant potential. Such products include mainly fruits and vegetables. Products with high ORAC help to prevent cell damage, aging, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. An oxygen diet is a relatively simple diet saturated with vegetables and fruits, especially those with intense color.

It is recommended to eat products that provide about 5000 micromoles of TE per day. To lose weight on an aerobic diet, the recommendation is to consume 30000 ORAC points per day. This diet is not starving, and it has a lot of flavors of nature and beneficial dietary fiber. There is no scientific evidence yet that products with high antioxidant potential lose weight, which is why it is presented as a healthy diet where weight is lost as a side effect.
