The author of the book, Oleg Feigin, is not a ufologist, but a theoretical physicist, a specialist in cosmology and quantum physics, an academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He not only collects and systematizes all the facts that allow one to argue about the existence of life outside our planet, but also subjects it to a thorough analysis.
The author exposes the origins of the «saucer» hype that flared up in the United States in the 40s of the twentieth century, and talks about rare natural phenomena that can produce a «UFO effect» on a person: about ball lightning, about the glow in the ionosphere, about air turbulences and others mysterious, but quite earthly effects. Reflecting on the prospects for scientists to search for extraterrestrial intelligence, Feigin simply and intelligibly describes the most complex scientific theories about the origin of life on Earth and the possibility of similar phenomena on other planets. There are no stunning discoveries in the book, but it clearly demonstrates that balanced science can be no less interesting than another newspaper sensation.
