PSYchology

As part of the children’s project of Lyudmila Ulitskaya, a new book with a telling title «about communication» has been published. Young readers will be taught to respect the traditions and way of life of other countries.

Ludmila Ulitskaya’s children’s project “Another, Others, About Others” has existed for seven years. The purpose of this book series is to tell schoolchildren about how diverse our world is and how important it is not to reject someone just because he is of a different nationality, race, or religion. As part of this tolerance education project, more than 10 books by various authors have already been published — about the family, mythology and religion, rites and rituals, law and punishment, food, clothes, houses, money, and also about human rights, about HIV and AIDS about people with disabilities. A new book written by psychologist Olga Bukhina and philologist Galina Gimon is about communication. Two friends, Kirill and Daut, are going to South Korea for an internship in taekwondo. They will have to immerse themselves in a different culture, where not only do they speak a foreign language, but other gestures are accepted, other forms of politeness, other family relationships, and even table manners. And — this is also the calling card of Ulitskaya’s series — artistic history is interspersed with excursions into psychology, linguistics, anthropology, cultural studies.
