Many women are looking for an effective way to protect themselves from pregnancy. NuvaRing is one of the solutions. It is a modern method that provides long-term contraception. What does the leaflet for this product say? How much does it cost and what opinions does it have? Here is some information.
What is NuvaRing?
NuvaRing is a contraceptive disc that is flexible and transparent. Its diameter is 5,4 cm and the thickness is 4 cm. The vaginal ring contains active substances in the form of hormones – progestogen and estrogen.
NuvaRing – leaflet
The NuvaRing flyer provides information on how to use the ring. It is applied vaginally, in accordance with medical recommendations. NuvaRing must be placed in the vagina on the first day of the menstrual cycle. The disc should remain in contact with the vaginal mucosa for 3 weeks. After this time, you need to take a 7-day break and put on another disc. This is how the next 3-week period of NuvaRing use begins. It is also worth remembering not to exceed the 7-day break in use and to place and remove the disc at the same time.
You should also regularly check that NuvaRing is in the vagina. It sometimes happens that the ring may fall out, e.g. during intercourse, removing a tampon or constipation. If this happens, the disc should be cleaned and reinserted into the vagina.
The NuvaRing leaflet also indicates possible side effects. Among the most common are:
- headaches,
- depressed mood,
- decreased libido,
- nausea,
- acne,
- breast tenderness
- vaginitis
- vaginal discharge.
The NuvaRing leaflet also indicates contraindications to the use of the contraceptive ring. The most frequently mentioned contraindications include:
- abnormal vaginal structure,
- cardiovascular disorders,
- thrombophlebitis, venous thromboembolism,
- hypertension,
- ischemic heart disease, angina,
- severe inflammatory bowel diseases,
- acute liver disease
- unexplained vaginal bleeding
- smoking after the age of 35
NuvaRing must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Before using the disc, you should also inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, including those available on prescription.
NuvaRing – cena
NuvaRing’s price varies. This is mainly due to the offers of individual pharmacies and the number of units in the package. And so the prices are from 49 zlotys for one piece of the ring, and for three you have to pay from 129 zlotys.
NuvaRing – opinie
NuvaRing’s reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Women using this method of contraception praise it for its effectiveness and convenience. As it turns out – the disc is used once in a while, not every day – as is the case with contraceptive pills. What’s more – the hormones contained in NuvaRing reach the blood much faster through the vaginal route and eliminate the problem of side effects that occur more often after oral administration of contraceptive pills.
Some NuvaRing reviews point to a high price, which may put you off a bit. Nevertheless, the decisive effectiveness of the product means that there are a lot of satisfied users of the contraceptive disc.
