Nut liqueur: 5 recipes at home

There are not so many recipes for walnut liqueur in the world. However, they are extremely versatile. As we will see below, based on two classic recipes, a significant number of different variations can be created.

But first, as usual, about the alcohol base. Of course, both good vodka and grain alcohol can act in its role.

Ripe nut liqueur

It is important to keep in mind that in addition to walnuts, other close and not very close relatives of them can be used in the preparation of the drink: hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, peanuts, etc., as well as a variety of experimental mixtures from the above-mentioned fruits.

In addition, it is worth keeping in mind the ability to change the amount of alcohol and sugar syrup indicated in the recipe to your liking.

List of ingredients

  1. Walnut kernels – 30 pieces

  2. Diluted food alcohol (40%) – 1 l

  3. Water – 500 ml

  4. Sugars – 500 g

  5. Cloves (optional) – 3-4 pcs.

  6. Cinnamon (optional) – 1 stick

  7. Ground nutmeg (optional) – 5 g

  8. Cardamom (optional) – 2-3 pcs.

Method of preparation

  1. Grind the nut kernels, place in a jar, add spices and pour alcohol.

  2. Hide a tightly closed container for a month in a dark, warm place; at the same time, every 5 days the vessel must be vigorously shaken.

  3. After the specified period, attend to the preparation of sugar syrup: bring water with sugar to a boil over low heat, then boil for a few more minutes, removing the foam.

  4. Leave the sugar solution to cool to room temperature, and in the meantime, strain the alcohol infusion, carefully squeezing the nut cake into it.

  5. Mix syrup with alcohol.

  6. Close the jar with the future liquor tightly again and put it in a cool dark place for two weeks.

  7. The finished drink is bottled and sent for storage to the basement or refrigerator.

Italian green walnut liqueur

For this Apennine Viagra, you need to collect soft green nuts, whose size is no longer inferior to ripe ones. In Eastern European countries, this is best done at the end of June or at the beginning of July.

List of ingredients

  1. Green walnuts – 29 pcs.

  2. Diluted food alcohol (40%) – 1,5 l

  3. Water – 400 ml

  4. Sugars – 750 g

  5. Lemon – 1 piece

  6. Ground cinnamon – 10 g

  7. Cloves – 10 g

  8. Ground nutmeg (optional) – 10 g

  9. Vanilla (optional) – 2 pods

  10. Coffee beans (optional) – 29 pieces

Method of preparation

  1. Wash nuts and cut into quarters.

  2. Scald the lemon with boiling water, rinse with cold running water and wipe dry.

  3. Remove the yellow zest from the lemon, leaving the white rind intact.

  4. Nuts, zest, spices, coffee beans and 375 g of sugar put in a jar and pour alcohol.

  5. Place a tightly closed container on a sunny windowsill, where it should remain for two months (at the same time, the vessel must be shaken every 2-3 days).

  6. Then, from the water and the remaining sugar, prepare a simple syrup.

  7. Cool the sugar solution to room temperature and mix with the tincture. If the drink seems too strong, you can dilute it with non-carbonated drinking water.

  8. Continue infusion for another month (this time in a cool, dark room), shaking the liquid daily.

  9. Pass the finished liquor through a tight filter and bottle.

  10. Store the drink in a cool, dark place. Taste not earlier than one year after bottling.

Green walnut liqueur with white wine

The Italians are famous entertainers. And they have more than enough white wine.

List of ingredients

  1. Green walnuts – 29 pcs.

  2. Diluted food alcohol (40%) – 1,5 l

  3. Dry white wine – 300 ml

  4. Water – 400 ml

  5. Sugars – 750 g

  6. Lemon – 1 piece

  7. Ground cinnamon – 10 g

  8. Cloves – 10 g

Method of preparation

  1. To prepare a drink, you can be guided by the previous recipe.

  2. Add wine in the fourth step.

Nut liqueur on cognac brandy

A very original, not devoid of sophistication drink.

List of ingredients

  1. Ripe walnut kernels – 250 g

  2. Ordinary brandy or cognac – 350 ml

  3. Water – 250 ml

  4. Liquid honey – 250 ml

  5. Vanilla extract – 1 tsp

  6. Lemon zest – 1 tsp

  7. Orange peel – 1 tsp

  8. Cinnamon – 1 stick

  9. Cloves – 3 pieces

Method of preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

  2. Roast the nuts in it until golden brown.

  3. Transfer the nucleoli that have not had time to cool down into a jar, pour brandy and close tightly.

  4. Keep the container in a cool, dark room for a month, shaking it every 4-5 days.

  5. After the specified period, carefully filter the liquid.

  6. Boil honey syrup, bringing the substance to a maximum of 50 degrees.

  7. Add cinnamon and cloves to the cooling syrup.

  8. The honey solution that has cooled to room temperature without filtering is introduced into the nut tincture.

  9. Add the zest and extract, after which – hermetically close the container.

  10. Return the result for a couple of days in a cool dark place.

  11. Once again, the finished liquor is carefully filtered and bottled.

  12. Place the drink in a cellar or refrigerator, giving it the opportunity to rest for two to three months.

Walnut Ginger Liqueur

A special recipe for selfless ginger lovers. The amount of sugar syrup is variable.

List of ingredients

  1. Ripe whole walnut kernels – 6 pieces

  2. Neutral alcohol (vodka / 40 degree alcohol / moonshine) – 500 ml

  3. Water – 50 ml

  4. Sugars – 100 g

  5. Vanilla sugar – 1 teaspoon

  6. Fresh ginger root – 50 g

  7. Lemon – 1/2 piece

Method of preparation

  1. From water and sugar (regular and vanilla), cook a simple syrup.

  2. Cut the ginger into thin slices.

  3. Remove the yellow zest from half a lemon.

  4. Put the nut kernels, ginger and zest into a suitable glass container.

  5. Pour everything with alcohol and add the cooled sugar solution.

  6. Send a tightly closed container for two weeks in a dark, warm place.

  7. Strain the finished drink, pour into bottles and seal tightly.

  8. Store in a cool, dark place.
