Nurofen Forte is a general non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Available in the form of coated tablets, it is issued without a prescription. It contains ibuprofen – a substance belonging to the group of propionic acid derivatives.

Nurofen Forte – action

Nurofen Forte is a general-purpose drug. Its properties are directly related to the presence of the active substance – ibuprofen. It is a substance belonging to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. It reduces the symptoms of the inflammatory response, but is not antimicrobial.

Nurofen Forte – destiny

Nurofen Forte film-coated tablets are intended for the temporary relief of symptoms and should be taken as directed. The Nurofen Forte leaflet informs about the indications for the use of the drug. These are pains of various origins of mild or moderate intensity, such as:

  1. headaches (including migraines);
  2. toothache;
  3. pain in muscles and joints;
  4. pain in the sacral region;
  5. neuralgia;
  6. painful menstruation,
  7. fever accompanying a cold or flu.

The drug should be used for a short time, for a maximum of 3 days. If symptoms persist after this time, or if new symptoms appear, medical advice should be sought. Your doctor can advise you to take Nurofen Forte longer, also for certain chronic conditions. In this case, use the dosage and duration of treatment given by your doctor.

Nurofen Forte – dosage

Nurofen Forten can be obtained by prescription, but the dosage given in this leaflet should be followed, unless your doctor recommends otherwise.

Adults and children over 12 years of age: one tablet (400 mg) every 4 hours.

Do not exceed the dose of 1200 mg per day – 3 tablets per day.

Nurofen Forte – contraindications to use

The Nurofen Forte leaflet informs about contraindications to use. These include:

  1. age less than 12 years;
  2. allergy to ibuprofen or other substances contained in the preparation;
  3. allergy to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (history of such reactions to these drugs as bronchial asthma, rhinitis, urticaria and angioedema);
  4. active or past gastric or duodenal ulcer disease;
  5. severe failure of the kidneys, heart, liver;
  6. XNUMXrd trimester of pregnancy;
  7. increased risk of bleeding, hemorrhagic diathesis;
  8. history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation due to the use of other NSAIDs.

  1. with systemic lupus erythematosus;
  2. with diseases of the digestive tract;
  3. with intestinal diseases of an inflammatory nature (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis);
  4. with impaired liver function;
  5. with impaired renal function;
  6. with blood coagulation disorders;
  7. Elderly;
  8. with active or past bronchial asthma;
  9. with allergic diseases;
  10. in the case of dehydration in adolescents there is a risk of renal dysfunction.
Attention

Taking different painkillers together over a long period of time carries a risk of kidney damage as well as kidney failure known as postalgesic nephropathy.

Nurofen Forte – interactions with other drugs

Nurofen Forte may interact with other medications, so it is extremely important to be careful when taking other painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs or medications. This also applies to some remedies for chronic conditions. If possible, you should avoid taking Nurofen Forte tablets while taking:

  1. drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid;
  2. other NSAIDs;
  3. selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors;
  4. antihypertensive drugs;
  5. anticoagulants.

Caution is also recommended when taking, among others:

  1. diuretics;
  2. metotreksatu i litu;
  3. corticosteroids or serotonin reuptake inhibitors
  4. antidiabetic drugs derived from sulfonylureas,
  5. quinolone antibiotics.

Nurofen Forte – side effects

Nurofen Forte, like all medicines, may be associated with the occurrence of certain side effects. They can occur during short-term use of the drug in doses provided without a prescription.

Symptoms such as, for example, may uncommonly occur: abdominal pain, nausea, headache, itching, rash, hives.

Side effects such as: gastritis, diarrhea, gas, constipation, vomiting, tinnitus, fatigue and irritability.

Very rarely while taking Nurofen Forte side effects such as: severe skin reactions (e.g. erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, drop in hemoglobin levels, changes in blood count, problems with the digestive system (ulcers, perforations, bleeding), kidney failure, heart failure, liver disorders , aseptic meningitis, anaphylaxis, angioedema and other severe hypersensitivity reactions.
