Nurofen Antiflu

Nurofen Antigrip is a preparation used in the acute treatment of symptoms associated with colds and flu, such as fever, nasal and paranasal sinus congestion, runny nose, headache, and joint and muscle pain. The drug is a combined preparation that contains a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and a sympathomimetic amine. The preparation is in the form of coated tablets and is dispensed without a prescription.

Nurofen Antigrip – indications and dosage

Nurofen Antigrip to lek polecany do przyjmowania w doraźnym leczeniu objawów przeziębienia i grypy:

  1. fever,
  2. runny nose,
  3. Headache,
  4. obstruction of the nose and collateral sinuses,
  5. joint and muscle pains.

Drug dosage

Nurofen Antigrip is a film-coated tablet for oral use. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the preparation as it may pose a threat to your life or health.

  1. Adults and children after 12 years of age initially 2 tablets, then 1-2 tablets every 4-6 h, max. 6 tabl./d.

Nurofen Antigrip a przeciwwskazania

There are the following contraindications for taking Nurofen Antigrip:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
  2. uczulenie(katar, pokrzywka, astma oskrzelowa) na kwas acetylosalicylowy,
  3. active or recent gastric or duodenal ulcer disease,
  4. severe cardiovascular disorders,
  5. tachycardia,
  6. hypertension,
  7. angina,
  8. overactive thyroid gland
  9. diabetes,
  10. pheochromocytoma of the adrenal glands,
  11. angle-closure glaucoma,
  12. prostatic hyperplasia,
  13. pregnancy,
  14. the period of breastfeeding,
  15. giving to children12 y.

Nurofen Antigrip – drug restrictions

  1. A doctor should be consulted if symptoms persist or worsen after a few days.
  2. Particular caution should be exercised in the presence of: bronchial asthma, gastric or duodenal ulcer disease or other gastrointestinal diseases and disorders of the liver or kidneys, hypertension, heart failure, blood clotting disorders, lupus erythematosus or other connective tissue diseases. If non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are taken in the above group of patients, a doctor should be consulted before using the drug.
  3. People with asthma or allergies are at risk of developing bronchospasm while taking the drug.
  4. If allergic reactions occur (especially swelling of the face), consult a doctor immediately.
  5. If you are concerned about gastrointestinal symptoms, tell your doctor because there is a risk of gastrointestinal haemorrhage, ulceration or perforation.
  6. People taking the drug should exercise caution in the situation of concomitant use of preparations that increase the risk of gastrointestinal disorders or bleeding.

  8. There is no information on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive motor vehicles.

Nurofen Antigrip with other medications

  1. Nie należy przyjmować leku z innymi preparatami mającymi działanie przeciwbólowe i przeciwzapalne(w tym kwasem acetylosalicylowym), metotreksatem, litem, kortykosteroidami, lekami moczopędnymi, lekami obniżającymi ciśnienie tętnicze, zydowudyną, lekami przeciwzakrzepowymi (warfaryna, kumaryna).
  2. People suffering from coronary artery disease and being treated with acetylsalicylic acid should consult a doctor before taking the drug.
  3. It should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors (and also for 14 days after the end of treatment with MAO inhibitors) due to the presence of pseudoephedrine in the drug. A hypertensive crisis, potentially life-threatening, can occur when you take these drugs together.
  4. Nurofen Antigrip enhances the effects of other sympathomimetic drugs (which activate beta adrenergic receptors), e.g. decongestants and appetite suppressants.
  5. The effect of pseudoephedrine may be reduced by guanethidine, reserpine and methyldopa.
  6. Działanie pseudoefedryny może być nasilone lub osłabione przez trójpierścieniowe leki przeciwdepresyjne.
  7. Pseudoephedrine may reduce the effect of guanethidine and increase the likelihood of arrhythmias in patients receiving digitalis glycosides, quinidine or tricyclic antidepressants.

Nurofen Antigrip – side effects

  1. Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, upper abdominal pain, headache and dizziness, flu-like symptoms, excessive sweating, tachycardia, heart rhythm disturbances, restlessness, insomnia, may occur while taking Nurofen Antigrip.
  2. rare: cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions (pruritus, urticaria, rash), fluid retention and edema, hypertension, heart failure, dysgeusia, gastrointestinal bleeding, tarry stools, vomiting blood, ulcer disease, perforation, excessive sleepiness or insomnia, coagulation disorders, failure kidney, hematological disorders (haemolytic anemia, granulocytopenia and thrombocytopenia),
  3. possible: severe anaphylactic reactions (including shock), asthma, worsening of asthma, bronchospasm, dyspnoea, hearing impairment, blistering dermatosis, peeling of the skin, increased susceptibility to bruising.

The acute use of the drug rarely causes side effects.
