Numbness in the hands is a symptom of many different diseases. The most common cause of hand numbness is degeneration of the spine, especially in the cervical region. Numbness of the right hand and fingers of the right hand is also caused by carpal tunnel syndrome or ulnar nerve groove syndrome. Numbness, tingling in the right hand can also mean more serious conditions, including neurological ones.
Numbness of the right hand – causes
Numbness of the right hand can appear during prolonged pressure on nerves and blood vessels, for example, as a result of staying in the same position for a long time. One should then change the position taken so that the feeling of so-called suffering subsides.
Numbness of the right hand while sleeping
In the event that the right hand becomes numb at night or after waking up, it is worth considering the position we take during sleep and whether the mattress and pillow are appropriate. Numbness and tingling of hands with concomitant painful cramps may be the result of an improper diet, which is poor in magnesium, calcium or B vitamins. Then you should enrich the menu with meat, fish, bananas and nuts, and at the same time limit the consumption of coffee and tea.
Numbness of the fingers of the right hand as a symptom of the disease
When writing about the causes of numbness in the right hand, especially if it radiates to the fingers, mention should be made of diseases of the spine, in particular of the cervical region. The degeneration of the cervical vertebrae, or so-called cervical spondylosis, results from the degeneration of the intervertebral discs in the lower cervical spine. Degenerative changes in the cervical spine may compress the nerve roots and the spinal cord. Symptoms of this disease include pain in the neck and back, feeling worse after getting out of bed, limited mobility, as well as weakness, numbness and tingling in the hands. The point of pressure determines which hand and fingers of which hand feel numb.
A very common cause of numbness in the right hand is discopathy, a disease of the intervertebral disc. It is a jelly-like structure that allows mobility between individual vertebrae. Changing the position of the disc within the cervical vertebrae causes nerve irritation, resulting in tingling, hyperalgesia and hand numbness. The lesions within the disc may consist of a hernia (the meningeal sac only bulges) or a hernia (the disc clearly shifts). Pinched nerves cause pain, numbness and tingling. There may be a disturbance in sensation and a decrease in muscle strength. Sometimes the numbness in the hand radiating to the fingers is caused by neurological causes.
