The Ducan diet is a worldwide success. Among her fans are such celebrities as Kate Middleton, Gisele Bündchen, Jennifer Lopez. On July 30, 2013, at the invitation of Marie Claire magazine, French nutritionist Pierre Dukan came to Moscow. Woman’s Day did not miss the opportunity to meet with the doctor in person and find out the details of Ducan’s weight loss system firsthand.
French nutritionist Pierre Dukan is known all over the world. His books on nutrition and healthy lifestyles (the most popular are Ducan’s Diet and I Can’t Lose Weight) have been translated into 9 languages and are popular in Europe, Russia, America and Korea. Dukan’s diet is aimed at fast, and most importantly, effective weight loss, that is, without side effects and harm to the body. The doctor’s nutritional system is based on protein foods and consists of four stages.
The first stage, lasting from two to seven days, was called “Attack of Ducan”. During this period, according to the doctor, the first significant loss of extra pounds occurs. The basis of the diet should be food of animal origin – fish, beef, poultry, supplemented with plenty of water (you need to drink at least two liters per day), as well as in daily 20 minute walks.
At the second stage, Pierre Dukan advises to set a goal for yourself: the weight that you want to achieve (you can calculate the ideal weight for you for free on the website dukan.ru). You will need to follow a diet until the arrow on the scale shows the desired number. Nutrition consists in alternating protein and vegetable food, as well as increasing the time for walking – 30 minutes a day. The amount of water consumption remains the same as in the initial phase.
After reaching the goal, you proceed to the third stage – “Consolidation of Ducan”. Its duration depends on the individual characteristics of the organism, but according to the theory of Pierre Ducan – on average, it takes 1 days to fix 10 kg. During this period, it is allowed to add certain types of fruits, cheese and whole grain bread and oat bran to your diet.
And the last, fourth stage – “Stabilization of Ducan”. It consists in fulfilling four important rules: eat once a week according to the “Ducan Attack” method, drink at least 2 liters of water every day, eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran daily, and walk for at least 20 minutes.
Pierre Dukan considers this diet not only safe, but also beneficial for the body. “For 195 years we have lived as hunters and gatherers. This is what my diet is based on. I am not suggesting anything new. People have been eating meat, poultry and fish for many centuries, and remember, before the life expectancy of a person was higher, and the physical condition was better, that’s why I returned to the old traditions, ” Pierre Ducan told Woman’s Day. “I only reduced the levels of unhealthy foods – sugar, which can trigger diabetes, and fats, which raise cholesterol.”
“My diet is designed for people who eat meat. But at the same time, I have a good attitude towards those who, for some reason, refused animal food – vegetarians, – says Pierre Ducan, – Now there are many products that can replace meat – for example, soybeans, bran bread. Now I’m talking about those who have given up only meat, but eat eggs and milk. However, there are also pure vegetarians – vegans, they exclude food of animal origin from their diet. I consider such a diet to be a big mistake: for a healthy existence, a person needs to get proteins. “
Many girls are sure that they will never succeed in losing weight, and they consider any methods of losing weight to be ineffective. But Pierre Dukan assures that everyone can lose weight if they wish. His diet is not based on any restrictions and has nothing to do with regular express diets: you eat nutritious and healthy foods for the body. Moreover, the French doctor has a book called Desserts of Ducan, which describes recipes for low-calorie cakes and pastries. “It is simply impossible not to achieve results by following all the advice of my book! After the first stage, you yourself will see positive changes, – says Dr. Ducan, – The only thing is to correctly calculate the body mass index. It is very individual and depends on many factors. For example, from age: from 18 years old you should add 10 kg every 1 years, after 40 – your weight should increase by 3 kg.
