Not without casualties: a fire broke out in a Moscow hospital for patients with COVID-19

On May 9, a massive fire broke out in Moscow Hospital No. 50, which is focused on treating patients with coronavirus. Presumably, the fire was due to a faulty ventilator.

The fire started at about 8 pm in the intensive care unit, where there were 6 people. One of them became the only one who died – it was 95-year-old Evdokia Butryakova, who was on a ventilator.

“Unfortunately, there were some casualties. According to preliminary data, one of the patients died. My condolences to his family and friends, ”- wrote the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin on his Twitter.

According to the capital’s headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire, which was assigned the second complexity number, was extinguished an hour later. Hospital staff were urgently hospitalized. The patients were sent to other medical facilities.

The circumstances of the fire are already being dealt with by the metropolitan prosecutor’s office.
