Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who became famous for his statement “As a doctor I must diagnose you”, addressed to Prime Minister Morawiecki, is not the only medic in the Sejm. In total, a dozen or so representatives of this profession sit on the deputies’ pews, although some of them no longer practice. Which representatives of the facility at ul. Wiejska in Warsaw have the authorization to diagnose patients?

Elżbieta Gelert is sitting in the Sejm for the third time, she was also a senator for one term. She started from the Elbląg district. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Nursing at the Medical Academy in Poznań. She worked in hospitals in Frombork, Bartoszyce and Elbląg, since 1998 she has been the director of the Provincial Complex Hospital in Elbląg.

He worked in the district hospital in Szczecinek, and for seven years he was the head of the municipal ambulance service.

Riad Haidar, who comes from Syria, is one of the most famous Polish physician-politicians. He started from Chełm in the Sejm for the first time. He is active on social networking sites and is involved in charity actions. He is a pediatrician, he graduated from medical studies at the Medical Academy in Lublin.

Doctors in the Sejm: Czesław Hoc

Czesław Hoc got to the Sejm from Koszalin (in total, as many as four doctors went to the Sejm from this constituency), he is a member of the deputies for the fifth time. He graduated from the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. He has a second degree specialization in internal medicine, family medicine and endocrinology. For many years he worked at the Health Care Center in Kołobrzeg.

Marek Hok also came to the Sejm – for the third time – from Koszalin. He studied at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, as well as at the Medical University in Łódź. He is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is sitting in the Sejm for the second time (he started from Tarnów). He is a graduate of Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University (CM UJ), where until 2006 he studied at the Faculty of Medicine. Elżbieta Płonka got to the Seym from Zielona Góra. She is a second time deputy, she was also a senator for one term. She graduated from the Medical Academy in Wrocław, specialization in the field of internal medicine and family medicine. She worked in a hospital and clinic in Wrocław, a health center in Lubniewice and in Gorzów Wielkopolski.

Bolesław Piecha, who represents Bielsko-Biała, sits in the Sejm for the fifth time. In 2005–2007 he was the deputy minister of health. He is a gynecologist.

(Former) doctors in the Sejm: Łukasz Szumowski

He is one of the most recognizable doctors who have appeared in the Sejm of the current term. This is his debut as an MP, but with politics for 10 years, but he became known as the Minister of Health in 2018-2020. During his tenure, the coronavirus pandemic broke out. In February, however, Szumowski submitted his mandal.

Szumowski graduated from the Medical Academy in Warsaw, he is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist. After graduation, he practiced in a nursing home in Calcutta for a month. He worked at the Institute of Cardiology Prymasa Tysiąclecia Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński in Anin, Warsaw, currently he is the director of the National Institute of Cardiology in Warsaw.

He sits in the Sejm for the second time, he represents the Tarnów district. She graduated from the Faculty of Nursing at the Medical University of Lublin. She worked as a nurse and was also the director of a health care facility in Brzesko.

Zdzisław Wolski represents Częstochowa. For the first time in the Sejm. He graduated from medical studies at the Medical University of Silesia, he is a specialist in internal diseases. He worked in one of the clinics in Częstochowa.
