Application in beekeeping

The health of bees can be threatened by an infectious disease called nosematosis. As a rule, this disease affects adults, and if treatment is not done in a timely manner, then the bee colony will die. You can notice this infection after wintering or in spring – the bees look weakened and die.

Nosema is the most dangerous infection that affects honey bees. Unfortunately, not all beekeepers can recognize the disease in the early stages, and in the later stages, treatment is of little help. That is why, in order to prevent infection, Nosemat is used.

Release form, composition of the drug

“Nosemat” is a complex drug used to treat bees. The composition includes:

  • metronidazole;
  • oxytetracycline hydrochloride;
  • glucose;
  • ascorbic acid.

The drug is produced in the form of a powder, has a light yellow tint, with a specific odor. This powder is highly soluble in water. Each package contains 10 sachets of 2,5 g.

Pharmacological properties

The metronidazole and oxytetracycline hydrochloride included in the composition have a bactericidal effect, preventing the appearance of pathogens of protozoal diseases in bees. Given the level of exposure to the body, the drug is classified as low-risk.

Attention! If you use the medicine in small dosages, then you can not be afraid of bee intoxication, while the quality of the finished product does not change.

Instructions for use for bees

Give “Nosemat” according to the instructions, which allows you not to harm the bees. In early spring, until the flight begins, the powder is added to the honey-sugar dough. For every 5 kg of candy, 2,5 g of the drug is added and 0,5 kg is distributed to each family.

After completion of the spring flight, a medicinal syrup is given. This will require:

  1. 2,5 g of the drug and 50 ml of water at a temperature of +45 ° C mix thoroughly.
  2. Pour into 10 liters of syrup, which is prepared in a 1: 1 ratio.

Such a solution must be given 2 times, making an interval of 5 days. Each bee colony has 100 ml of medicinal syrup.

Important! As a rule, medicinal syrup must be prepared before use.

Instructions for use “Nozemat” in the fall

In autumn, the medicine is given to bee colonies in a diluted form, along with sugar syrup. Such feeding, as a rule, is carried out in the period from August 15 to September 5. The cooking process is as follows:

  1. Take 20 g of the drug.
  2. Add it to 15 liters of sugar syrup.

The treatment solution is given to the bees in 120 ml for each frame.

Dosage, application rules

Processing using “Nosemat” is carried out in the fall, until the moment when the honey collection starts or in the summer after the honey is pumped out. The medicine is fed to the bees or sprayed on them. It takes about 1 g per 0,5 family.

To spray the bees, you will need to add 15 ml of the medicine to warm water, mix thoroughly and spray the frame with the bees. This amount of solution is usually enough to process 1 frame on each side.

If you plan to feed the bee family, you will need:

  1. Dissolve 6 g of powdered sugar and 0,05 g of the drug in a small amount of water.
  2. Mix with sugar syrup.
  3. 100 ml of solution should be used for each hive.

Processing in a similar way is carried out 4 times with an interval of 7 days.

Important! Before starting treatment, the bee family is moved to disinfected hives. The uterus is replaced with new ones.
